Competition: Garrison Cup
Match_Details: (H) Nomads 4ths v Liverpool Ramblers
Result: 4-5
Scorers: Liam Walsh, Charlie Farley, Morgan Cox, Simon Owen
MoM: MoM:

Another tough game for Nomads 4ths against a strong Ramblers side. Graced with a fixture at the club for once (almost felt like an away game it's been that long!) we started well playing up the hill. Despite going a goal down we battled well and broke out of defence with speed and purpose (no honestly we did!)

Pick of the goals came from Morgan Cox who flicked a spinning ball past the Ramblers defender before slamming the ball past the diving keeper. At half time and the scores level at 3-3 we thought we might have done enough to take the game with the wind and slope in our favour.

However, the speed and purpose from the first half took its toll and we couldn't quote make the game ours. Morgan left early with a damaged shoulder as we called on Boothy to fill in. In reality we could have done with a bigger squad but hey that's what its like ,,,, some weeks we'll have 17 players but most weeks will just about make the bare eleven.

Ramblers eventually grabbed the winner from the penalty spot, a harsh decision as Penders couldn't get his arm out of the way when the ball was hit at him. Having said that Coppack ref'd well and in good humour although he has alleged there was a lot of abuse from our side.... surely not?

"The day of the Groin"

Captain Clark's formation of 4-1-4-1 looked on paper an inspirational tactic with Heeley being deployed as the Hargreaves of the side in front of the back four. However, after 4 minutes the plans all changed when Tucker pulled up lame and switched places to "get him out of the way".

The first half saw Liobians stroke the ball about well with good passing and movement that was unfortunately not matched by the Nomads. A three goal lead was handed on a plate as confusion reigned. Tucker grabbed our only first half goal, turning like an oil tanker to dispatch the ball into the bottom corner.

Second half was a much better performance from Nomads as we began to communicate more effectively and even found the odd pass to feet. Walshy slammed a fierce shot with his new bargain Predators (buying new boots at his age?) which deflected off the elbow off Liobians centre half over the bar. The ref was in no doubt, after the loud appeals, that a penalty was in order. Up steps Charlie to calmly slot home. 3-2.... could we do it?

Sadly, the next goal was another from Liobians which meant a big push was required, Clarky (out for ages with a groin injury) replaced the injured Tucker (at least he can run he said) and eventually Walsh brought the game back to 4-3. Despite a number of attempts we couldn't break Liobians down for an equaliser. Rupert then clashed heavily with Benters and the third groin injury of the day surfaced.

Best shout of the day came as Morgan stormed forward from a midfield pass only to be given off-side. "I was level" he shouted, but the very fair Clarky informed him "Morgan, you were nearly in Ellesmere Port mate"
