Padarn took the initiative in the first half with Nomads coming back strongly in the second.
A great game for the spectator with the outcome not being sure until the final whistle.
Well done Nomads for an entertaining tour.

Match Summary: And an Exhibition it certainly was with the Dads putting their past glories into practice with a fine display of controlled football.
The boys quickly went into the lead but the Dads never lost their heads and played the total football last seen in the days of Johann Cruyff in his heyday with Holland.
Never looking in any trouble, the Dads replied in kind to any type of pressure exerted by the boys and came out deserved 8-3 winners.

Match Summary:
Our end of season tour this year gave us a tough first game against the Aberystwyth JFL U13 Champions, Talybont A.
Trying to get the boys into bed early ready for the big game was a waste of time as it was more a case of the boys trying to get the Dads to bed early who were reliving their own football glory days in the Llain Executive Lounge.
The full English was just what was needed before the big game and Nancy made sure nobody went short!
It was a glorious day for the match and both teams put on fine displays.
Talybont showed why they were Champs this year with a solid defensive display and a forward line that were like a pair of greyhounds.
Nomads never looked out of the game but Talybont made their chances count.
Lloyd Smith scored a cracker after some typical Nomads interplay but the late night ensured these were few and far between.
Great hospitality from Talybont saw the Nomads invited back to the Talybont Team Pub for some grub and a welcome pint for the Dads.

Result: 3-2

Match Summary: After finishing joint second, Nomads and Westminster Park Wanderers went into a playoff to decide the runners up spot in Div 2.
The match showed why they had finished level on points in a closely contested game with Nomads coming out 3-2 winners.
A very warm day at the Garrison saw Nomads make a determined start and take control of the early stages of the match.
Some close offside decisions went Wanderers way until Lloyd Smith held his line well before latching onto a superb through ball from Thomas Johnson to slip the ball past the keeper.
Nomads kept up the pressure and a deep corner from George Dermott was fired in from the edge of the box by Thomas Johnson just before half time.
Wanderers showed a bit more determination in the second half but were being contained by the Nomads defence.
A disputed penalty decision against Nomads saw Wanderers get back into the game. Almost immediately from the kickoff, Liam Smith fired a long ball in from just inside the Wanderers half which the keeper could only palm into the net.
Another, no so disputed penalty, was awarded to Wanderers to make the score 3-2.
Both goalkeepers played a big part in keeping the opposition out with some fine saves.
Tom Shotton’s performance in the Nomads goal earned him the fan’s MOM award.
A great finish to the season for Nomads, well done boys.

Match Summary: The last game of the season saw Nomads down to the bare bones with only 11 players available. A solid performance on a heavy pitch saw them grab all 3 points.
Nomads produced a very lively start but failed to find the net until Jack Dilworth fired in a right footed shot following a corner from Lloyd.
A host of missed chances followed but a solid defensive performance from the back 4 kept a clean sheet until half time.
Nomads kept up the pressure on the Warriors goal in the second half and George slipped a ball past the Warriors keeper to record Nomad's second.
The heavy pitch and no subs was taking it's toll on the Nomad's midfield.
More chances were missed before Lloyd, the smallest player in the Warriors 18 yard box, leaped to head in a well taken free kick from Adam.
Warriors pulled a goal back before Lloyd got to the byline down the right before pulling the ball back for Thomas to slot home.

Match Summary: Another game of 2 halves which saw Newton take control in the first and Nomads dominate the second but were unlucky to lose.
Nomads were punished by Newton after a couple of defensive errors and subsequently resorted to the more direct approach adopted by Newton. Newton garbbed a third before half time to take a commanding lead.
The second half was a different story altogether after the half time team talk got the boys keeping the ball down and playing their football.
Jack McGarva fired in Nomads first response with a fierce shot from just inside the box.
Nomads continued to press and were rewarded with a second from Lloyd.
The last fifteen minutes saw Nomads lay siege to the Newton goal and only some desperate defending by Newton prevented Nomads getting at least the draw they deserved.

Match Details: (H) Chester Nomads U13 Colts v Blacon Youth
Result: 2-4
Scorers: Lloyd Smith & George Dermott
MoM: Thomas Johnson
Match Summary: It’s a cliché but this really was a game of two halves; a spirited second half display by Nomads couldn’t undo the damage of a poor first half performance.
A very subdued performance in the first half left Nomads 0-3 down at the half time whistle; lacklustre would have been a much more apt word but Dave opened with that last week so…. Blacon knew that a win would see them win the League and they started very positively. Even though Blacon had all the early pressure, it was Nomads who had the first attacking opportunity when the referee turned down a strong claim for a penalty after a foul on Lloyd Smith. Ironically Blacon then took the lead after the referee gave a very harsh penalty for handball against Nomads defender Conor Ryan. This was followed almost immediately by a second penalty when Jack Mc Garva was adjudged to have brought down a Blacon attacker. Tom Shotton managed to get his hands to this penalty but unfortunately was unable to keep the ball out of the net. A third goal just before half time saw a very dispirited Nomads side head for the touchline.
What a transformation in the second half! From the kick off Matthew Jones drove the ball forward for George Dermott to force a corner and suddenly Nomads looked like the good side they are. A great ball from Thomas Johnson nearly put Lloyd Smith in but the goalkeeper saved. At this point there was only one team in the game; Nomads poured forward causing major panic amongst the Blacon side. This pressure was rewarded when, from a Lloyd Smith corner, George Dermott’s great positioning saw him able to tap the ball into the net; 1-3 the comeback was on. Blacon were under massive pressure at this point as Nomads continued to pass the ball with greater and greater accuracy. The deserved second goal arrived when a slide rule pass by Thomas Johnson saw Lloyd Smith get a just reward for a great battling performance at centre forward. By now Blacon were clinging on to their lead and another pass from Thomas Johnson saw a George Dermott header go close to getting the equaliser. Unfortunately the equaliser was not to be and the final act of the game was a Blacon breakaway which saw a fourth goal scored totally against the run of play. The boys were a source of great pride to all involved; their spirit in the second half was fantastic. It was very difficult to pick a man of the match from so many great performances but Thomas Johnson deserved his trophy after a great all round display.

Match Summary: With the lead switching from one to the other throughout the game, Westminster Park Wanderers came out eventual winners 5-4 against Nomads.
A very lack lustre performance from Nomads saw them gift Westminster Park Wanderers all but one of their goals through defensive errors.
It’s fair to say that although we were down to the bare 11, we had too many players who just failed to perform on the day.
Wanderers took the lead after a hopeful ball into the Nomads area deceived Tom Shotton in goal.
Nomads were soon back in it when Jack McGarva rifled in a shot into the bottom left hand corner from 20 yards.
Nomads then looked as though they were starting to take control of the game when they took a 2-1 lead with a goal from Lloyd Smith after some neat work from Thomas Johnson.
Wanderers equalised after some more indecision in Nomads defence, to make it 2-2.
Nomads then took the lead going into half time following a corner from Lloyd Smith which was volleyed into the net by Liam Smith giving the keeper no chance. A contender for Goal of the Season.
Wanderers went into a 5-3 lead in the second half before Nomads got a consolation goal from Liam Smith who followed in on a strike from Jack Mcgarva which produced a superb save from the Wanderers keeper who pushed the shot onto the bar.

A superb all round footballing display saw Nomads overcome the more direct, physical style of Newton in a hard fought game.
Nomads opened the scoring following a corner from Lloyd which was punched out by the Newton keeper. Adam Butt was lurking on the edge of the 18 yard box and controlled the clearance then rifled a superb shot into the bottom right hand corner.
Nomads kept playing neat football and were rewarded with two superbly worked goals from Lloyd Smith.
The first defence splitting pass was from Liam Smith and the second was from Thomas Johnson, both of which were latched onto by Lloyd and tucked away without giving the keeper a chance although Newton did pull a goal back to make it 2-1 before Lloyds second.
3-1 to Nomads at half time.
Nomads kept up the good work in the second half were denied a fourth goal by a superb double save from Lloyd by the Newton keeper.
Another corner from Lloyd saw Nomads get the fourth goal they deserved when Liam fired a loose ball home.
A battling final 20 minutes saw Nomads hold on for a well deserved win.

Match Summary: A fine performance from Nomads, who ran out 11 – 0 winners against a spirited Waverton side. Nomads went in 4 – 0 up at half time and some great work in the second half saw them net another 7.
Nomads had most of the possession for the first 20 minutes without being able to convert any of their chances. Lloyd Smith bagged the first two very well taken goals. Thomas Johnson then scored two before half time.
Second half substitute George Demott rifled in a superb goal soon after the restart before Thomas Johnson sealed his hatrick with a well struck volley from outside the box after Waverton cleared a Nomads corner.
Matthew Jones then scored a couple before Dominic Harper capped a fine display with a Thierry Henry like curling shot into the far corner after cutting in from the left.
Matthew Jones then capped his Man-of-the Match performance with two more goals to make it 11-0.
There were fine performances all round and although only the goal scorers have been mentioned it was a really good team performance. Especially pleasing was the clean sheet.
A special mention has to firstly go to the Waverton keeper who despite conceding 11 produced some outstanding saves throughout the match and also to Chris Jones who, following in his dad’s footsteps, had a very solid game as the referee.

Match Summary: The first meeting between the two teams this season proved to be a hard fought affair, with Newton taking a first half lead and Nomads equalising in the second half for the match to finish 1-1.
Nomads started brightly and passed the ball around well. Newton are a big, strong side who coped well once Nomads entered the final third of the pitch but Nomads continued to move the ball around slickly giving Newton plenty to think about.
Newton took the lead midway through the first half after a hopeful ball launched into the Nomads penalty area wasn’t dealt with by the Nomads defence and the Newton forward slid the ball past Tom Shotton.
Nomads continued to play their passing game and created the best of the opportunities but failed to convert their chances.
Nomads patience was rewarded midway through the second half when Dominic Harper beat two players down the left hand side and pulled the ball back to Matthew Jones who fired the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
With Nomads confidence growing and now comfortably controlling the game, Newton were on the back foot but defending well enough to keep Nomads out.
Nomads had a chance to seal the win in the final minutes when a through ball from Liam Smith saw Lloyd Smith get beyond the defender and fire a shot across the keeper only to see it go narrowly wide.

Match Summary: A really tough and entertaining game which saw the initiative swing one way then the other. Nomads went into a 2-0 lead before Hope Farm fought back to go 3-2 up with a couple of minutes to go. Nomads kept battling to the end and were rewarded with 2 late goals to seal the win 4-3.
This was an indifferent performance from Nomads who, despite a disjointed display against a much improved Hope Farm side, took a 2-0 lead with goals from Thomas Johnson and Lloyd Smith who latched onto a superb through ball from Adam Butt.
Hope Farm pulled a goal back before half time when the referee deemed that the ball had crossed the line after a save from Jack McGarva.
Nomads had still not found their form in the second half and this was probably down to the work rate of Hope Farm who equalised and were then awarded a penalty to take the score to 2-3.
With time running out, Nomads stepped up a gear and laid siege to the Hope Farm goal. Matthew Cooper broke up a Hope Farm attack and took the ball forward before threading a ball through the Hope Farm defence for Lloyd Smith to latch on to and lift over the advancing keeper.
Nomads continued to take the game to Hope Farm and grabbed the winner with seconds to spare when Liam Smith latched on to a loose ball following a corner to nod the ball home.
This was a real edge of the seat game with neither side really deserving to lose but Nomads were more than happy to take all 3 points regardless.
The parents awarded the MOM to the whole team on the back of their never say die attitude.
On a sad note, following a challenge for a 50-50 ball in the first half, it was confirmed at the Countess of Chester Hospital that Christian Gunther had fractured the fibula in his left leg. No nasty tackles involved, just 2 fully committed boys going for the ball.
Get well soon Christian, from your teamates, everybody else at Chester Nomads JFC and Hope Farm Rangers.

After going a goal behind, Nomads went into a 3-1 lead before Blacon fought back in the second half to record a 6-3 win. Thomas Johnson scored all 3 for Nomads and was MOM.
A fine fighting performance from Nomads who had to battle against more than just the elements in this match to decide who would yop the table.
After going a goal behind, Nomads really took control of the game and deservedly went into a 3-1 lead with a hatrick from Thomas Johnson. Nomads continued to dominate the first half with some fine football and some narrowly missed chances.
Blacon pulled another goal back just before half time to make it 3-2.
The wind picked up and changed direction in the second half resulting in Nomads playing with it in their faces.
Nomads continued to battle and play some good football but Blacon defended well and were backed up with a solid performance from their goalkeeper to prevent us scoring. Blacon notched a further 4 goals in the second half without reply from Nomads to seal the win.
There were some fine performances throughout from the Nomads players and they can go away from this game with their heads held high and with the knowledge that we didn't get the result the performance deserved.

Match Summary: Despite having most of the possession in the first half, Nomads had difficulty in converting that possession into clear chances against a spirited Waverton side. A penalty in the first and a better performance in the second half saw them run out 5-1 winners.
With so many matches being postponed recently, perhaps Nomads can be forgiven for the lack of quality in their play today. Lots of possession failed to see Nomads convert that into goals. A well converted penalty from Matthew Jones in the first half saw Nomads take a 1-0 lead at half time, although Waverton can probably count themselves unfortunate after a spirited and dogged defensive display.
Some better football was on display from Nomads in the second half and Lloyd Smith grabbed Nomad’s second after a backpass to the Waverton keeper held up on the heavy pitch and Lloyd nipped in and slotted the ball home.
Probably one of the best passages of play from Nomads this season was seen when Adam Butt beat a couple of defenders on the right, slid the ball into Thomas Johnson who played a 1-2 with Lloyd Smith and then slid the ball into Matthew Jones’ path who slotted it into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Total Football.
Adam Butt was having a superb game down the right hand side and put a peach of a cross in for Lloyd to convert for his second of the match.
Thomas Johnson got himself on the score sheet with a typical 20 yard strike just before the final whistle.
A close call for MOM saw Adam Butt given the nod over Conor Ryan who also had a superb game.
It’s nice to be able to report on a game without having to mention the referee, who put in a faultless performance. Thanks to Mike Jones for stepping in at the last minute.

The boys' warm up reminded me that this was the first game after Xmas - lots of indulgence and late nights.
We had a pretty slow and disjointed start and both teams were fairly evenly matched.
Nomads netted first with Jack McGarva on 11 minutes. Hope farm were back in the game 4 minutes later with an equalizer.
Nomads did have plenty of chances to increase their lead but the Hope Farm keeper was in good form
Halftime 1 -1.
A crisper second half performance saw goals from Ronnie McDermott (40 mins), Lloyd Smith with 3 (45, 47 & 65 mins), Matthew Jones with 2 (55 & 67mins) and a header from Louis Boswell in the final minute seal the game for Nomads.

Another preseason friendly to sharpen the skills before the start of the season next Sunday.
A rapid fire start from Nomads caught Waverton napping and Jack McGarva netted for Nomads inside a minute. The match was became evenly balanced as the half went on with Waverton showing the greater desire with Nomad's losing their team discipline. Waverton deserved the equaliser just before half time.
The half time team talk was taken on board and Nomads came out in the second half with greater purpose and more disciplined team play. Thomas J netted the second and Matty Jones the third. A well worked fourth scored by Lloyd following a superb through ball from Thomas J. Lloyd grabbed the fifth and Matty J the sixth following some neat interplay down the right hand side from Adam and George.
A second half that couldn't have been more different from the first.
Well done boys now the real work starts.

Pre-season friendly to give the boys a run out, assess fitness and take a look at new players. The match was played in 3 x 25 minute sessions.
First third was very even with Nomads probably having the better chances, the pick of which was a rasping 20 yard drive from Thomas J which came off the foot of the post. There were several other half chances from both sides but neither keeper was really troubled.
Nomads made several changes for the second third and also had an enforced change with Thomas J suffering from a knee injury. Pulford had the better of the play midway through this period and netted 3 times.
A better third period from Nomads saw them pull a goal back when a shot from Lloyd slipped through the unfortunate Pulford keepers hands after bobbling in front of him. Nomads continued to push for another goal but suffered the consequences by getting caught on the counter attack.
A good warm up game for the boys and although probably not doing enough to win the scorline didn't really reflect how close the game was.
