Report : Another win takes the run the 4 on the bounce – surely a record for the thirds since our Chester & District campaign began!! The mood was somewhat subdued prior to kick-off – our top scorer was away on “family duties” and our keeper had been demoted to the seconds for a game.

The thirds began as usual. The ball was played down our right-side flank, crossed to the far post and poked high into the net. Not the greatest start but we like to make it difficult for ourselves!! Parity was restored around the half hour mark with Cooky just beating the Christleton defence to poke the ball home. Cooky then damaged his knee and had to hobble off to be replaced by Greeny. At halftime, Greeny and Ilesy spoke of the need to carry on as we left off. Early on, Tony Ellams tapped the ball home after a goal-mouth scramble, soon followed by a lovely Locker finish. He drifted across the area from the right-hand side before dispatching the ball with the outside of his right foot right into the bottom corner. At this stage, the visitors began to lose their heads ultimately resulting in some rather tasty challenges!! Bowelly then meandered through the static defence before being brought down. He then picked up the ball and decided he was going to take it himself much to Baker’s chagrin. What followed can only be described as an apology of a penalty, side-footed weakly into the grateful keeper’s arms. Needless to say, no-one mentioned it to Bowelly back in the changing room!!

All in all, another good, workmanlike performance from the boys.  MoM: Paul/Baker.
