Match Report By:Jose Morinho

It may not always be attractive to watch but at least its effective. According to our back suffering subs that's about the size of it anyway. It's amazing to think that we stlll believe we're playing at a fast and furious pace... take a time on the bench and you'll see a different story.

The pitch was worse than Chelsea's for the Barca game, was this a tactic by Wirral Vets to stop the Nomads 5ths playing their obviously now infamous free flowing game? Who knows the truth... it's out there. it looked like the local council had decided to build a new outdoor pool for the residents of Eastham, a geneous offer that's slow to catch on.

The game itself was always in the control of Nomads who were commanding at the back... well except the very back when Waitey watched a ball trickle past him to slip inside the post. The strength of the ball obviously troubled our passive keeper.... it didn't even have the strength to reach the back net. Neil claims it bobbled as it was heading out - very dubious indeed.

Matty once again opened the scoring in the first half with a fine effort and we really should have had more with the wind behind us. Kelly returned from a long term injury, showing that married life is (dis)agreeing with his figure but still showed some good touches (mainly to his hair). Dave Maynard grabbed a deserved goal to put Nomads in front and we never looked like conceeding again.

In the dying minutes another Nomads attack saw the ball land at Alan Mowatt's feet only 6 yards out; a lovely control and rather than shoot (was he worried?) he unselfishly clipped it sideways to allow Matty B to fire home for his 40th of the season. Well done Matty. A good win this one boys!

Match Report: by Alan Titchmarsh

What can be said about this game, the sun was shining, the grass was cut and everyone was in a good mood...except Tucker who had just seen the blue half of Merseyside been robbed by the red half!

Dave Maynard was banned.... from kit duty having claimed that he'd paid £7.90 to a launderette to have the kit washed... counter claims that he spent the money in the Platinum Lounge were vigorously denied... although with today's prices what can you get for £7.90?

The game? We never looked in danger at the back having only been beaten by two excellent strikes which we paid for to stop Waitey retiring. Midfield were fully in control despite sounding like Thomas The Tank Engine... lots of huffin and puffin going on.

And up front.... make a sentence out of these words.... Banjo, door, backside, barn, hit and that'll tell the tale of the game.

how terriable was the pitch, after not having that many games the past month the 5ths fielded a very strong side consisting of a new member called jimmy, matty beswick was on fire despite nearly throwing up on the sideline after a heavy night on the ale with barnesy, 1st goal to the nomads was an own goal, then matty popped up to score a brace in the first half, despite the best efforts of the 5ths to throw the game away matty managed to score another 2 in the second half making the final score 5-4 to the 5ths, all credit to northop who never gave up and were unlucky not to capatalise from a comedy of errors between niel and clive, well done 5ths..................................

As Bob Dylan says, the times they are a changin'. Barnsie's ruthless streak continued when he axed Waitey
(or was he watching the 6 nations?) and also dropped Tucker to the bench (or was that cos he missed last week?)
Can't really comment too much on the game as I (Tucker) took umbrage about being dropped and went to 'warm up' on the
other pitch with Soggy Abramovich's band of millions.
Leading 1-0 and 2-1, Nomads held on bravely until the last 7 minutes when Law College decided to improve their shots on
target ratio and slot in the winner.
Quote of the day goes to Alan Glasgow who asked me "who did you play for Tuck, was it the 5ths over there"? to which we all
replied "no mate, we're the 5ths"!

Report: What a Magnificent performance from the 5ths!!!!!!!!!!!! we knew this was not going to be an easy
l2: one for us but we never expected to score six past a quality 4th team, al glasgow opened the scoring
l3: in the first few seconds after a never say die run from dave maynard who passed to matty who turned
l4: and crossed for the nympho to score 1-0, then after a lack of communnication in the 4ths defence
l5: matty outpaced the defender to finish neatly past the oncoming keeper. Then again clive came up with
l6: a towering header with chants of "are you watching matty fry" 3-0. After the break we never looked
l7: like conceding, only adding to the tally in which matty ran and beat a couple of defenders to score
l8: his second, then after all that an accurate throw from sub wilbur met matty who controlled it on the
l9: volley and let rip from the edge of the box 5-0. The 4ths never gave up and scored on the break, it
l10: was offside said barnsey but still given, to the end matty finished it off with a solo effort.

Report: And you thought the champions league final was a good comeback!!!!!!!!!, this game was quite frankly
l2: the best we have played in a long time. Liverpool cavaliers basically annihilated us in the first half
l3: and not surprising as they had some quality young players or should i say ringers in the side.
l4: Nomads had the bare eleven to tavel the distance to the wirral and found themselves 3-0 down at half
l5: time, we started the second half a completely a different side, 5ths pulled one back immediately
l6: after the break through matty (no jug beswick) who then added another soon after, Neil was
l7: outstanding in goals and the defence totally in control, barnsey and clive had an awesome game
l8: and then when the Breakwell hit an absolute peach to bring it to 3-3 we knew we had a chance. Nomads
l9: never looked tired (well apart form barnsey of course!!) then with ten minutes to go a great run
l10: from al (the nympho) won a penalty, converted by matty, great performance guys, bring on the 4ths!!!

Report: Not a good day for the nomads 5th team, it started with an unlikely positive team talk from barnsey
l2: and thats where it all went wrong, nomads started ok but conceded in the first twenty mins, nothing
l3: niel could have done to stop it apart from dive to try and save it!!! Then the old boys scored ( no
l4: not phil tucker or adie) they scored a second from a laps in our defence! Cometh the hour cometh the
l5: man ( the silver fox davies) rose like a salmon and sunk like the titanic to pull one back for us
l6: then the scottish nympho got his head to a great ball and put it away to make 2-3, then in the dyin
l7: minutes dave got rugby tackled and play went on glaze (tricks and flicks) scored the equaliser
l8: a great game to forget, the more worrying thing at full time the chants from the sidelines to bring
l9: back butler!!! things must have been bad. well done to the ref, the best one we have had all season

l3: nomads in front from the Maynard, then a lovely curled free kick from Matty Beswick well outside the
l4: box, scrappy second to finish the half off from Matty to put us three nil up at half time. Defence

l2: Soggy brought out the high earners for this one...with a bench that either Roman or Percy the Park
l3: keeper would have been proud of the 5ths knew they were in for a game. And what a game it was...
l4: with 15mins left, drawing 2-2, with a great goals from Al G and Dave the ball was floated on a silver
l5: tray towards Butler... from fully 3 yards out it was harder to miss. Dave has never been one to take the
easy option so he duly controlled the ball under his feet and managed to fluff it to the keeper!
It's a game of what-if's and maybe's they say, how true that was today!

l4: our very best to give the game away, losing the 2nd half 3-1. Sweet left foot volley to open the

l3: the best. After 1 minute they realised why when Irby calved up Nomads to fire past standing, sorry
l4: stand-in, keeper Barnsie. A quick reply with a ridiculous goal from Ade was matched by our 2nd, an
l5: oggie clearance gone wrong. Despite injuries during the game to three more players, Tucker, Breakwell
l5: and Glasgow Nomads held on to 3-3 until the last 5 minutes when Barnsie demanded the now customary

Report:

A romping 7 - 2 victory over our old rivals the Ramblers. A tight game in the first half, 2 apiece at halftime, as we faced the gusting wind, turned into a rout downwind when Matty and Dave filled their boots. Defence this week seemed a bit better as Barnesy and Clive finally introduced themselves to one another.

Special mention should be made of our resident Hearts and Hibs fans (Al Glasgow & Alastair Morrison) as they were playing at the same

time as our game. Hibs took away Hearts unbeaten record and poor old Al had to sit in the back of the same car with

Alastair all the way home.............

p.s. Alastair has only played 3 times for us and every time we have scored 7. A lucky omen perhaps.......

Report: A thrilling start where the 5ths took the lead through Matty Beswick's lob over the keeper from a
l2: through ball by Ade Breakwell. The Vets then responded by dominating much of the pay but couldnt
l3: break through. Tucker got shot by the sniper and limped off after a solid 5 minutes to be replaced
l4: by Wilbur who thankfully had turned up on time for once. In search of the equaliser in the last few
l5: min, 5ths committed to attack, were caught on the break by 'Appy despite a fine 1st save from Waitey.

Report: What a game. Nomads always looked in control despite the early fear of new faces and younger legs
l2: in the St Lukes team. Kelly in sublime form on the right found time away from his defensive duties
l3: "Richie, I'm playing right back" to deliver a superb cross for Jugs to send a loopiong header over

l5: the ref blew for time at 4-0. Bitter claims by the Saints resulted in an extra 5 minutes which we won 3-1 !
