In the first 5 minutes every touch made by a vets player was to give the ball to the opposition. Ledgey lost his touch, fortunately he regained it later to provide an immaculate cross to Keith to head the opening goal. Later in the half Geoff on his 1st full game for 3 months collected the ball on the edge of the box and returned it with interest into the post and side netting. The first half was dominated by Nomads except in the whinging department as the West Kirby centre back gave us all ear ache. A couple of changes at half time and defensive errors allowed West Kirby to get back into the game with two quick goals. The whinging B......d continued to appeal for every descision so it was exceptionally sweet when Keith out leaped him after a great ball in from Graham Lightfoot to nod the ball over the advancing keeper and roll into the net for the winner.

Vets played well in the opening 20 minutes creating numerous chances. If Mal had played more recently he would have tucked away at least a couple. Steve Smith had a few chances and if Coops had pulled his trigger he could have scored, unfortunately not in the goal. Vets went 2 down, the 1st from the traitor Keith Rowan's strike rebounding off the bar straight to opposition to place into the net. In the second 1/2 more pressure down the slope from the vets resulted from a Graeme Anderson mis queued cross straight to Pete who volleyed home. The equaliser came fron an intricate move through the middle involving Manny, Coops and Smigger striking the ball home.

Report: In the 1st half the vets looked good dominating most of the play and deserved their early lead but
l2: Guey dived over a good shot to allow them to equaliser. In the 1st 20 minutes of the 2nd half the
l3: second half we scored 2 great goals and Mike scored the penalty. We began to cruise and thought it
l4: was all over. Stevie G set the rot with a bad goal kick and it just got worse conceeding 2 more soft
l5: goals to let them back into the game.

Report: 2 Vets games on the same day. This team organised by Steve Smith With a good number of vets and a
l2: few ringers. The liverpool side managed to hold the Nomads for the 1st 1/2 but the vets dominated
l3: the 2nd 1/2 with 5 goals.

MoM: Great team performance.
Report: What happened to the Vets. The players left supported by Macca and Tilley from the 6th's created the
l2: performance of the season on the quality pitch at Bebington Oval. It all started at the club with 7
l3: players, several phone calls later we found that players had let us down; we found that others were
l4: going to be late. We started with 10 plus 1 but played really well and went 3 up before 1/2 time.
l5: Defensively we were strong, the midfield were dominant and Macca, Tilley and Colly annoyed the opposition

Report: The 1st half was a tough battle with both teams going close on a few occasions, Keggy making
l2: the best double save of the season so far. Close to the end of the 1/2 manny successfully stuck
l3: the penalty away. In the second 1/2 the vets started to dominate play and chances came and went
l4: but then the move of the game swept from left to right through Savvy and Snake with a quality cross
l5: onto Brods head he placed it in the corner. Bob returned for a classic nod in from a Brod corner.

Report: This wasn't the best of performances by the Vets. In the first half despite being on the perfect
l2: pitch we only constructed a few moves of quality. A large lively centre forward put himself about a
l3: bit for Halkyn but he wasn't a patch on Colly. Into the second 1/2 we continued to squander chances
l4: but to push for a goal Micky App came on to add weight to the forward line. He had a glancing header
l5: that just went wide. Finally Colly got us out of jail by scoring a superd header from Smiggers cros

Report: Fluid quality football played by the Vets particularly in the 1st half. Rotation being the order of
l2: with a completely different back 4 finishing the game from the starting line up. Late arrivals
l3: forced Manny to start in goal, injury struck Micky App forced Manny to striker and then he ended
l4: up in the back 4. With excellent team work like that in future weeks will guarantee many more
l5: wins. Thanks go to Graeme Anderson for dropping out this week.

Report: A game of 2 halves of which we won both. The wind and slope affected the game badly but the Vets
l2: dominated even against the wind. Manny opened the scoring with a penalty in the 1st half. Brod
l3: manhandled himself into a great position to head the second early in the 2nd half. Futch took a bad
l4: bounce on the elbow to conceed a penalty; it took 3 richochets before comimg back to the penalty to
l5: score with his head. Two absolutely fantastic goals from Angry and Manny sealed a good victory.

Result: 4 - 2
Scorers: Mike Appolonio - 3, Steve Smith
MoM: Whole team. What a performance !
Report: The opening gambit involved great pressure by the Vets with the 5th's looking for the fast breaks
l2: and a fair bit of jousting. The whippet like 5th's forwards took the lead twice with Micky leveling
l3: the score and then a wonder strike from Steve(Eric)Smith to bring the score to 2-2. The Vets threate
l4: ned the 5th's goal on a regular basis with the odd threat of a break from the 5th's. Pressure told
l5: in the end with Micky (the Ox) scoring 3, the final one being a classic strong run from 1/2 way.

Report: A scrappy 1st half with nomads dominating the play putting some good moves together but unable to
l2: put the ball in the net. Opposition got a very lucky deflection off their own player to take a 1 -0
l3: into 1/2 time. Vets came storming back and equalised early in the 2nd half and kept immense
l4: pressure on going close on many occasions but denied by the most ungainly keeper we have seen.
l5: . After about 8 corners we gained our 2nd freekick, Smudger slotted home but they got 2 breakaway goals to take the game

Result: 4 - 1
Scorers: Steve Mann - 2, Graeme Futcher & Phil Collister or Keith Rowan.
MoM: Greame Anderson or Ian Brodie
Report: Was it Colly or was it Keith, the disputed goal. Vets dominated the opening 20 minutes but failed to
l2: score, against the run of play Woolton opened the scoring. Angry took a quick corner finding Manny
l3: who slotted the ball home in the far corner to bring us level at 1/2 time. Angry and colly made
l4: great runs down the left for Manny and Futch to score respectively. Futch's shot was a total spanner
l5: but they all count, Manny's crashed into the roof of the net. Final goal was it Colly or was it Keith?

Result: 3 - 1
Scorers: Graeme Futcher, Ian Brodie, Keith Rowan.
MoM:
Report: In the opening minutes Steve S. accused Steve G of making a diabolical decision when he didn't award
l2: a penalty. The match became aggresive and highly competitive but Nomads began to dominate before
l3: 1/2 time going into the break 2 - 0 up. 3 changes at 1/2 time disrupted the flow a little bit which
l4: led to the best goal of the game scored by Bob, only trouble is it was in his own net. Keith Rowan
l5: scored a very good goal near the end to seal up a good victory for the Vets.

MoM: Micky Appolonio
Report: Vets dominated the game from the onset. Micky App had an amazing game setting up chances as well as
l2: scoring 3. Angry revelled in his new role up front and Manny, Steve S' ,Futch and Mal created
l3: chances up front. The defence was strong against a couple of youngsters but Lighty had to go off
l4: with a grion strain (so he claims).

Report: Brod the Hero, scored the winning goal on his vets debut. Waverton had the better of the 1st 1/2
l2: with the young pacey forwards taking on the ageing defenders. Manny's penalty got us level for 1/2
l3: time. Geoff scored another opportunist goal after some god work by the forwards. Colly battled hard
l4: through 2 tackles to win the ball and feed a great cross in for Brod to strike the ball and our 1st
l5: win of the season
