Tournament, Telford
What a great weekend we had. Despite
arriving at our Much Wenlock
training campsite in the rain, the
team and supporters gathered
together in the marquee to start the
weekend off in good fashion.
Blessed with fantastic weather on
the Saturday, the team headed over
to Stirchley for the days games. An
excellently organised tournament saw
Nomads drawn in Pool 1 with teams
from Randlay, Shrewsbury, Dawley,
Bridgnorth and Oakengates. Our first
game opened with a shock as
Oakengate pupmped the ball high in
the air towards our goals.... not a
soul moved - all Nomads still firmly
camped out back in Much Wenlock! 0-1
in 25 seconds. We soon came back to
win 3-1 and played brilliant
football over the next group gamesm,
winning all 5 and only conceding
that one.
In the Semi-Final we we're full of
hope as we played Bolton Brazil.
They looked sharper in the opening
2-3 minutes but we rallied and
eventually scored to take a 1-0 lead
into the second half. Perhaps
staying up til midnight isnt the
ideal preparation as Bolton grabbed
one back and then struck a killer
blow by scoring in teh last 40
seconds. All out attack couldn't get
us another and so we went back to
camp. A good day but a final
appearance would have been just
reward for some outstanding football
and then who knows what would have
happened?
A great Saturday night BBQ,
interspersed with a competitive game
of volleyball between parents and
kids (not sure who won in the end).
Sadly the rains came down on Sunday
bringing the w/e to a close but
everyone went away happy.
Thanks to everyone for coming,
really appreciate the support you
all give to the boys and the team -
it simply wouldn't be the same with
out you!
Have a great summer,
Phil

Nomads seemed to be suffering from cup-hangover today as they found they couldn't quite find the right gears against a strong side from across the border.
Village started well and showed they are a well organised side who like to
play pass and move football which on the wide spaces of the Garrison pitch was
the right tactic. Nomads played a subdued game for our standards, with players
watching what was happening rather than getting fully involved and asking for
the ball. We'll put it down to tired legs and minds from last weeks excitement
and say no more!

Nomads produced a proud and determined display against an unbeaten Villa side in this League Cup Final at Whitby. Nomads gave the occasion a wash of colour as many spectators were kitted out in replica amber shirts to make the touchline reminiscent of a home game for Holland!
The first half was a very even contest with both sides unable to find their way through solid midfields and defences on the large West Cheshire pitch. With a minute to half time Nomads coaches were preparing their half time team talk with the scores level at 0-0. However, that all changed in a second when a speculative strike found its way in for Villa to take the half time advantage. That first half saw some fine saves from Callum Ferguson and the back four playing very well indeed which was all the more hard to take when that goal went in.
All to play for in the second half we went out there determined to show what we can do and again every body played well and gave 100%. When you need a goal you have to take chances and whilst pushing forward to grab a goal Villa countered quickly and found themselves three up.
An injury to Fergie meant a quick keeper change; we are so fortunate to have
two excellent goal-keepers, The coaches brought on some fresh legs to try and change things but it wasn't to be our day. Nomads can be very proud of themselves and watching the faces coming off that pitch I know they'd given everything. Parents, fellow Nomads, including our chairman, and friends watching were all impressed with the commitment and attitude we showed and we never gave up til the end.
In fact, with a minute to go we nearly grabbed a late goal that would have been richly deserved but alas the ball bounced away on the quick hard surface and got away from us. Well done to everyone involved, the day showed what a great team and community spirit we have within the team and the club.

What a stunning performance we witnessed today. A large crowd gathered at The Garrison ground for our eagerly awaited semi-final against Upton Blacks. Having played Upton twice in the league and drawing both times we knew we would have to be on-form to gain entry to the final and we did in it in style.
The team preparations were excellent, with the players arriving in good time, unlike the ¼ final mad dash at Neston! Warm-up drills went well and all players were looking sharp especially as a few had some doubts over injury and illness earlier in the week. The team talk in the dressing room was about pace and utilising the wide spaces that The Garrison pitch offers. The players then walked out to Champions League music with the instruction to play like champions!
From the off, Nomads looked sharp, quick thinking and passing movements saw us create early opportunities. A clever move down the left between Ethan, Mitch and Tucker gained a throw in deep in Upton’s half. The ball was played back for Josh to chip over the defence for Tucker to run onto…. A clever head over the keeper and we’re 1-0 up after 3 ½ minutes! From there we began to get into our stride and the recent training certainly paid off as we made excellent runs, deliver crisp passing and in defence never gave an inch. Leon was delivering some excellent crosses and was unlucky to score himself. We had a lovely spell of football in this half where the defence won the ball, worked it through midfield and we created a number of chances with Leon, Mitch and Callum’s G & E going close. It was only a matter of time before we got our second. After 13 minutes we got it. A free kick just outside the area was taken quickly by Mitch, he chipped over for Tucker to notch by sliding the ball past the keeper. When Upton rallied our defence looked solid with Josh in excellent form and the occasional break-through was handled expertly by Fergie. The third goal came towards the end of the half when Felix drilled a ball through everyone for Mitch to chase… a fierce shot gave us a good lead at half time.
Now, we’ve been here before leading against Upton… that was not going to happen again! Faces showed the effort that had been put in by everyone but a good half-time break and team-talk soon had us raring to go. WOW! After 15 seconds of the re-start, Leon nicked the ball in midfield, pushed it forward to Callum E who set James Tucker up for a terrific hat-trick. We looked comfortable right across the pitch and soon put the game beyond doubt when Callum E found his way through to fire past the keeper. An uncharacteristic error gave Upton a goal back but we son restored our lead with possibly the best move of the game. First time football from the back, through midfield and then Freddy sent Mitch running down the right; a superb, text-book, long cross to the back-post saw James Shaw running in to head home. Upton did grab a second, unlucky for Fergie as he came out and parried bravely to stop their first attempt but there was nothing he could do to stop the second shot.
All in all, our best display of quick, attacking football this season. Defensively we’re solid in every aspect and our midfield is both combative and creative. The strike-force have pace and strength and as with all the team a strong determination. Well done lads, thoroughly deserved and you should be very proud of yourselves… everyone watching is!

A good team performance on a difficult pitch saw a comfortable win for Chester Nomads in the Quarter Final of the League Cup, depite being 5 players down due to Easter holidays!
The game kicked off late due to bad traffic, particularly affecting the coach and three pleyers in convoy.... who was it that said we should have left earlier? Despite no warm up and a frantic run to the pitch, a rapid team selection & team talk we began well. The pitch was hard which was making the ball bounce all over but eventually we got the better of the game and asserted control.
15 minutes in, a goal mouth scramble was finished off by Callum Graham - an emphatic strike from 2 yards! On the stroke of 20 minutes, a looping through ball bounced up for Tucker to strike a lovely left foot volley past the keeper. 2-0 and starting to cruise a bit. Sam Jones having a Ronaldo moment in right midfield grabbed our 3rd with an firm strike on the keepers inside post.
So 3-0 at half-time but we know from experience we can't let our guard drop. Onto the 2nd half we went, with instruction to pass the ball wide to create space and within 2 minutes of the re-start, James Shaw having moved into his preferred position of striker got his reward of a goal from a determined run. Soon after Mitch hit a hard speculative shot that the keeper couldn't hold and it flew behind him to make the game safe at 5-0. Neston did then rally but we always looked in control with Felix sweeping up anything the defence missed.... which wasn't much!
Chad, playing in centre midfield looked creative when in possession and firm to tackle when not. With eight to go, Ethan won a strong tackle in our half, release the ball quickly to Callum G who broke free down the left. On this pitch it was difficult to control the ball so to round the keeper on a 1-on-1 took great control and skill. Well done boys, onto the semi-finals!

Fast paced and action packed game with both sides creating chances. Despite what the scoreline suggests, this was anything but a comfortable win. Nomads were being challenged in every area and had to raise their game to find ways through Vicars Cross defence.
A very even first half saw some great football from both teams: Nomads played attractive football that was causing the opposition some problems. After 22 minutes, Mitch latched onto some good teamwork to slide the ball into the left hand corner. That lead held until half time. Just before the whistle, Vicars Cross forward Jamaal, fell awkwardly after a tackle and broke his arm - our best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
Both teams were a bit shaken by this and it understandably took a while to get going again. Dynamoes were first to respond with a scrambled goal.... 'responsibility' is a word we'll hear more of... we need to take it when deciding who should clear the ball !
That was the only time that we didn't give everything we have - overall in the game both goal-keepers were brilliant, the defence were outstanding - Alex and Felix are working particularly well together; Josh & Sam looking accomplished fullbacks. Our midfield worked tirelessly to help the defence and create some marvellous opportunities for the strikers; well done to Ethan, Tucker, Leon, Callum G and Chad. Up front James Shaw chased everything and unsettled Dynamoes defence and Mitch was in inspired and unstoppable form.
The score didn't remain 1-1 for long before Mitch latched onto good work from Tucker and Evington to hammer the ball home. 3 minutes later it was 3-1 when Tucker hit a lovely ball through for Mitchell to grab his hat-trick. A tense last 10 minutes was soon settled when Leon ran onto a Cal G pass a delivered a superb chip over the keeper - he then added his second with a speculative shot that the Dynamoes keeper couldn't quite handle. All in all, a very impressive performance.

A great game of cup football played with passion and skill but unfortunately Nomads couldn't break down Princes Villa and were thus denied a place in the final.
The management gave the pre-match team talk in the Garrison Pavillion dressing room and told the lads to play with pride and passion; keep the ball moving and battle for every ball. Nomads responded to this brilliantly and within the first ten minutes had a super shot from Leon Shirton go narrowly wide of the post. Mitchell Mowatt was up-ended in the box but the referee failed to give this decision... not sure why... only he can tell, fearing repercussion possibly? Even Villa's coach admitted later it was a cert. Those two moments would have changed the whole shape of the game and put us in the driving seat, but alas it was not our day.
Villa took the lead with a well taken goal but were then gifted their second when three Nomads didn't take responsibility to clear the ball and let the Villa player through to set up a golden chance. So, 2-0 down at half-time but all to play for.
At half-time, the management said to keep doing what we were as it was clearly worrying the opposition and their sideline! Onwards we fought, strong and fair tackling; another obvious penalty not given; a free-kick not given when James T was clean through; a 'shoulder barge' when the ball was 20 yards away just add to the catalogue of decisions that didn't go our way. However, we never gave up and for the last 15 minutes we played three at the back in a hope to grab a goal but it wasn't to be and in the end Villa scored another two.
Every Nomad put in a proud performance: Both Callums in goal kept some difficult shots out, the defence of Sam, who came off injured for Mike, Josh, Felix and Ethan did really well; Midfield of Callum G in the 'Makelele' role, Leon, Chad and James T did brilliantly and up front combinations of Freddy, James Shaw, Mitch and Callum E gave their all against a well organised defence. James T was MoM for a commanding midfield performance. Well done everyone.

A bumpy and boggy pitch didn't help the pass & move style of Nomads game but the quality within this side shone through with a comfortable 4-1 win.
We found ti a little difficult to get the ball moving freely as passes bobled away and both teams found it hard to control. However within 13 minutes, Nomads scored their 100th goal of the season. Leon & Callum G combined well down the right when Cal put the ball into the danger area for Callum E to pounce on. Neston's keeper rushed out but Callum threaded the ball through the eye of a needle, finding the only free space between post and keeper, 1-0.
Two minutes later we took advantage of a mix up in the Neston defence with in-form James Shaw scoring by lifting the ball over the stranded keeper. The remainder of the half looked solid with the keeper Fergie and back four of Josh, Alex Felix and Sam in control. Leon again combined well, this time with James T, this time the ball bobbling across the box.
Second half began brightly, and before long it was 3-0 thanks to a super run to the by-line by Callum G who pulled the ball back for Shaun Curran to slide the ball home. A lapse in concentration gave Neston a goal as we changed the side around a bit - not meeting a high ball left their striker 1-on-1 and he tok his chance well.
With two minutes to go we restored the 3 goal advantage when after a strong tackle by Ben Charlton he gave the ball to James Tucker who took players on and a good Neston tackle saw the ball land at James Shaw's feet and then the back of the net! Well done boys.

James makes sure of Nomads victory.
A James Shaw hat-trick was enough to see Nomads progress through to the semi-finals with a tense 5-4 win over a battling Heygarth side.
"Lets get at them fast" were the pre-game instructions...only we took that in reverse and let Heygarth take the lead with a break-away goal due to not marking players goal-side. Thankfully it only yook two minutes to restore parity, when a corner was cleared only to Callum G in his central midfield position. A control, look-up and a glorious shot into the top of the net followed.
The next 20 minutes saw some better play by Nomads but like last week we found that the opposition were putting 8 men behind the ball which again we found it difficult to break down. On 25 minutes some excellent work by Freddy Hughes allowed James Shaw to head the ball past the keeper. Always vulnerable after you score, Heygarth attacked down our right, we got nowhere near and the right midfielder hit an unstoppable shot past Callum E. Again, we responded quickly, James T beating a defender to send James Shaw through who beat the keeper with an excellent lob shot. 3-2 at half time.
Second half began brightly, Mitch broke free from the half way line and once he gets going you cannot stop him. A very cool finish made it 4-2 and we thought pretty safe. A few minutes later, James Shaw grabbed his first ever hattrick when he followed in a shot which the keeper could only parry. 5-2, surely a done deal.
Oh no. We left a player in the box unmarked and when the shot came in he was possibly offside but we either mark up or get out of the box and give the ref no choice. 5-3 and still safer.... it must be! We then had numerous chances to score but we didn't have our shooting boots on - and then Heygarth got their 4th to set up a very tense last few minutes in this frantic cup tie. However, overall Nomads were too strong and never really looked like losing.... but they did give the coaches and suporters a scare along the way! Well done boys, through to the next round.

Match Report By: Coach
They say great teams win games even when they are not playing well, hopefully
that will be true for Nomads after a good result but a disappointing game played at our lowest level for some time. We didn't really capitalise on the good early start when within 90 seconds James T's pass was blocked back for him to slide home. After 9 minutes, poor defending allowed the Blues to break free. From the resulting corner, our marking was non-existant and Upton took advantage to level. It then took til 25 minutes before Sam delivered a lovely corner that the Blues defender could only slice into the net.
Second half instructions to find space and get the passing going improved things slightly and we never looked in danger of conceding again as Upton packed their defence... at times they had 8 defenders in their own area.
Miek Webb delivered a good through ball for Fred and Mitch to combine before James Shaw lobbed the keeper to make it 3-1. Shaun Curran filled in well all over, playing striker, left and right back as well as a stint in midfield - Mr Versatility!
Mid way through the half the best goal of the game came from Mitchell's corner which was met o the half-volley by Callum Graham. He unleashed an unstoppable shot past the keeper to make the game safe. Mitch didn't want to let James T get ahead in the scoring chart and grabbed his 20th of the season before MOM James Shaw wrapped it up with a fine header.
We mixed it up a bit today, some players playing slightly out of their normal comfort zone but we really should be making more of these games. We have to find our own consistent level rather than being dictated by who we are playing. When we play the top teams, we're brilliant... but when we don't....! We need to work on drawing teams out, play the ball around to create space - it's very hard to score when there are 15 bodies in the box. Well done on a good result, lets get back to entertaining football next week.

Match Report By: Coach
A combination of illness and late night entertainment at the Seniors Annual Dinner kept the coaches quiet on the sideline this morning.... it wasn't meant to be echoed by the performance! Before we start on the report, its worth saying that at the dinner (posh name for a Hot-Pot!) Mike Appolonio, Junior Club Chairman was voted Nomad of the Year, a richly deserved award for the effort that Mike puts into the running of the club and integrating the Juniors with the Senior section. Well done Mike.
The game started very quietly from our point of view, little talking out on the pitch and no urgency in play. Twice in the opening quarter of an hour Viila Colts could have taken a lead after finding themselves breaking through. However, they say class will always show itself and on 15 minutes we began to play. Well it started with a route 1 long ball for Callum E to chase and when he starts running there is only one winner. A cool slot past the keeper 1-0. Mitch was unluckly to be given off-side 2 minutes later... its a difficult rule to judge for a ref on his own but this time he problably got it wrong...however, Mark & I would like to say how proud we are of our players attitude when they get a decision against them... they just shrug it off an get on with playing...unlike our opposition today who frankly were poor, especially at the end of the game when calling out to the ref. I will be pointing this out to the League Referees secretary.
Over the next 15 minutes, we picked up the pace and had chances but couldn't score until Mitch rounded the keeper on 29 minutes, passed back to James who shor/crossed towards the back post where Sam Jones executed a cushioned header home.
In the second half we really livened things up but still took 10 minutes more to get going. Mike Webb thundered a clearance down the line that eventually hit the corner flag to stay in play... Nomads much quicker to react got the ball to Cal G who lobbed the keeper from just inside the box. 4 mins more and its 4 goals... another huge clearance from Alex gave their keeper a difficult high ball to deal with... James T was the only one to chase an apparently lost ball and found the ball drop behind the kepper for him to guide into the net.
On 17 minutes, Josh got his first, and deserved, Nomads goal when playing in midfield he went forward and scooped the ball past the keeper 5-1. Relentless pressure from here saw another corner find its way to James T in the box with a lovely side foot into the goal. In the last 4 minutes Callum G was rewarded for his high work-rate with two goals, one from good team play and the other a lovely solo run.
Running out of space to say everything but the team was shifted around a fair bit today and everyone did very well in whatever position was asked of them...defence
was solid, midfield combative and creative and the the strikers potent
(eventually)... even Fergy playnig at centre half!

Nomads find it's Cheaper By The Dozen! With instructions not to take anything for granted Nomads lined up and approached the game with compsure and determination and got their rewards with 12 goals.
The game started brightly and after ten minutes and the scores still deadlocked, Nomads began a move down the left. Shaun won the throw whcih was given to Mitch who fired hard and low past the keeprer. 3 minutes later a burst of pace saw Mitch get away from the defenders, the keeper mistimed his clearance to leave Mitch to slot home, 2-0. For the next ten minutes the game got a bit scrappy with short passes in a crowded midfield not getting anywhere. However, once Nomads found their longer range of passes, James Shaw found himself in space on the right. On his debut you'd think he'd be nervous but he looked very cool as he rifled a shot past the keeper on the inside of the post.
They say you're always most vunerable when you score and that was true after Rossway kicked off. A lapse in concentration and diving into tackles gave Rossway some reward when they pegged us back to 3-1. But we replied quickly to restore the 3 goals lead with a fine solo run from Freddy before he hit the roof of the net. 4-1 at half-time.
Second half requirements were to play attractive football and find space on the big Boughton Hall pitch and didn't we do that well. 35 mins - Alex sent a freekcik into the box between keeper and defence which Callum G latched onto; 40 mins - Shaun who had already shown some excellent skills took advantage of the keepers tumble to score our 6th. We then had to wait another 14 minutes before the floodgates opened....
With all of the squad on and off the picth, 6 substititions at a time no less we always had the fresher legs and in the last 7 minutes perhaps this showed more than ever. Freddy started the feast of goals with a lovely lob over the keeper; Calpol chased a through ball to then chip over the advancing keeper; Leon got the 9th and deserved it for an excellent display of hard work across the pitch; Mitch grabbed his hat-trick with a tap-in; Calpol showed how fast he is to storm in for his second before Mitch was left with a 1-on-1 and there was never a doubt. Great result boys, more pleasing to see how we can move the ball and get into good positions to receive and lay off. Well done to the whole squad.

Nomads produced their best performance of the season in a tough encounter against the side sitting 3rd in the league and deserved to take all 3 points.
From the start, we wanted focus on the way we played rather than the result and it worked. Attacking CNS with blistering pace Nomads had the better of the early chances and were twarted by excellent goal-keeping from New Scenes keeper. After 10 minutes, we'd already had 4-5 chances including a ball saved on the line.
Nomads were first to the ball and closed down so impressively, something we've been working on lately in training - good to see the hard work paying off. On twenty minutes another strong attack saw the versatile Callum Evington on the edge of the box, he slotted a pass left for the on-running James Tucker to pick up and fire past the stranded goalie. 1-0 at half time.
The second half saw more of the same with all players giving their all and we had moments of brilliance all over the pitch. The defence was as solid as its ever been, Alex man-marked their striker out of the game, the midfield combative and creative with Ethan & Callum particularly controlling things and the attack fast and furious with Callum E, Mitch and Freddy.
A high ball was flicked on by Callum E and again James was making a strong run... seeing the keeper coming off his line James lobbed the ball over him into the net - 2-0 and looking good. Unfortunately, a freak accident with 15 minutes to go saw the very impressive Ethan Jones take a tumble and fall on his wrist. Ethan was carried off and we later found out that he has broken his wrist so best wishes to Ethan for a speedy recovery. Callum G also had a great game in midfield and was also carried off - fortunately no breaks this time. I think this unsettled us a bit and CNS levelled with two decent strikes. Well played boys, as we said after the game, you should all be very proud of that performance, it really was excellent.

Wow, what a game. This would certainly bring the crowds in... for the neutral it would have been a fantastic open game to watch. Twelve goals shared evenly between two competitive sides.
Nomads started the brighter in the first half with the strong wind behind them. It took quite a while to break down the Upton defence but eventually Ethan Jones found the back of the net with a good strike. It's good to see Ethan returning to such good form. Many attempts later, we hadn't built on the lead and then we let Upton back in it when we failed to clear a goal-mouth scramble. We needed a goal to take into the second half playing against the wind and what a goal it was. Keeping up with the Joneses, Sam struck a lovely shot that gave the keeper no chance. Half time 2-1.
In the second half, Upton tried to get back into the game but were struck by some terrific play from Nomads. Mitch Mowatt showed what he does best running with pace and strength at the defence. Upton simply couldn't handle this and Mitch grabbed his hat-trick in superb fashion. Leon added another to make the score 6-2 with ten to play - a done deal.... or so we thought.
The wind picked up and our defences went down. I'm not referring to the four lads in defence who had played well throughout the game but the team as a whole. For ten minutes, we stopped marking, closing down and
when defending corners we were all over the place. Upton seized on this and unbelievably stole a point as they scored four in quick succession from set plays.
On a positive, we played much better and for longer than last week and at times were brilliant... we now need to practice defending at set pieces and keeping our concentration for the full hour. Disappointing not to get a win that we deserved but another valuable lesson learnt.

Noamds started the game very brightly and dominsated the first encounters. After an extremely positive 15 minutes when Nomads found themselves 1-0 up thanks to some clever play and a great lob over the keeper from Mitch Nomads suddenly stopped playing.
Giving Villa too much time on the ball, they found the equaliser and then stunned us by scoring six more in the next 12 minutes.
Second half saw an improvement but still we gave the opposition too much time to make decisions and against this kind of opponent you just cannot do that without conceding. Some brighter moments saw us have a few opportunities but good last minute defending from Villa thwarted us until Mitch pounced on a through ball to take his second of the game.
To make matters worse Villa were awarded a penalty (rightly so...) and Fergie produced a save Petr Cech would have been proud of.
Despite stopping in the first half, what was pleasing was that for the last ten minutes we found our determination again and never stopped running. Moving on.....

Superb way to start the new year. The first half display was a joy to watch as Nomads stroked the ball from player to player with speed and accuracy.
The deadlock was broken within 70 seconds when Shaun Curran's shot was parried by the keeper but fortunately for us it trickled over the line. 3-0 within 15 minutes and 5 at half-time was just rewards for the way we played on a heavy wet pitch.
Second half gave us opportunities to change the formation a bit and it did take 15 minutes to settle during which Heygarth pulled a deserved goal back. However, the last 15 was all about Nomads who looked dangerous with every attack. Five more goals brought some fine moves and a first ever hat-trick from Ethan Jones.
MOM today was Mike Webb who at full-back in the first half did everything well with some super clearances. moved up into midfield in thesecond half again slotting balls forward and grabbed a good goal with a left foot strike.
Well done boys, a great performance today and lots of smiling faces on and off the pitch.

So near, yet so far. A good chance
to take some points off one of the
top teams was there today but
despite us battling extremely well
we couldn't find the break-through
that we needed. Right to the end
Nomads fought to equalise with
Eagles resolute defending holding up
well. A last minute effort from
Callum E was blocked by a sliding
tackle from the Wirral boys which
typified how they approached the
game. What today showed was
that on our day, we can be a match
for anyone and with a bit more
conviction in our play, we'll start
to climb the table quickly. Callum
Graham showed the way with a gritty
and determined performance which
earned him the MOM award, James
Tucker grabbed his 14th of the

the box to coolly slot home past the
keeper. Don't be fooled by the
table... we've played more of the
top teams than our rivals so when
the league finishes we'll be at
least a few places higher. We have a
very good team here and your coaches
are proud of what you do out there.
You have a great attitude so keep it

A tough game today against a strong Rovers side who basically battled us out of the game. From te first minute Rovers broke through and grabbed an early lead. Within 7 minutes though we looked like we could get something from the game when Mitch did what he does best by bursting through the defence to give himself a 1 on 1 with the keeper.
Another few twists and turns in the first half saw Rovers score two more with a decent response from Callum Evington when he slotted the ball under the keeper. So at 2-3 at half time we thought we could grab a point. However, once again a bit sleepy from the off and Ellesmere Port took a 4-2 lead which soon was streched to 5-2 with an unstoppable shot from the right,
Ethan pulled one back with a header from a corner in the dying seconds to make the score line more respectable.
As with games before this week, we need to be thinking a bit quicker - go and meet the ball rather than sit and wait for it to arrive - Rovers were quicker today ans stole the ball from us too many times. When in possession, move the ball with a firm pass and then think what can I do now instead of admiring the pass!
Lads, we knew it would be tough this year, and I'll still say that the team we have can do so much more... when we're ready and want to bring the assertiveness to our game, the football, the results and the fun factor will all improve.... that said, it still beats shopping!!

A decent performance today from the squad with many players playing in experimental positions. Josh was outstanding in the first half at left full back, srong tackling, speedy runs and some lovely passes to set up attacks.
In recent weeks in the Premiership the referrees have been getting more of the attention than the players and I think today's ref had modelled himself of Graham Poll ! Emough said about that.
First half performance started scrappily but within 4 minutes Calpol had broke free and slotted home. Inside ten minutes James had made it 2 and before halftime Calpol scored again to all but wrap the game up.
A second half saw us allegedly off-side about 10 times and being up-ended in the box without even a hint of a whistle for a pen... Like last week, we are creating chances in abundance but too many shots are giving the oppos keepers some basic catching practice. We need to be stretching the keepers with some more accurate shots which we'll concentrate on in training.
Well done boys, a game made difficult by some strange decisions but we overcame them and were the worthy winners on the day.

A disappointing result from a game where we were far from our best. A case of too many missed chances and lack of closing down gave Dynamos the edge.
To be fair, on another day we may have scored 8 having hit the post, bar, side netting, a goal disallowed for a hairline offside and having had numerous attempts saved by Dynamos keeper. Going into the second half up the hill at 2-2 was always going to be a big ask. Goals came from a one-on-one from James and a great strike from the edge of the box by Alex.
Second half saw Vicars Cross quicker to the ball and thanks to a penalty and a wonder strike they took a 2 goal lead and never looked back. Sam did grab his own wonder goal direct from a corner - looping the ball high and difficult for which the keeper could only palm into the net.
Come on lads, we're much much better than this and you deserve to be winning so many more games as at times, its an absolute pleasure to watch you. So lets get more urgency into our game and meet the ball early rather than wait for the ball to drop at our feet.

Now that's better! What a performance that was. A clear show of what passing
and pace can do when you do it well.
From the start, Nomads showed what they wanted from the game and how they
were going to achieve it. Within 3 minutes, a fluid passing movement saw James
attack down the left pulling the ball back for Ethan strike a ball against the
post. The ball went out for a corner and with Leon dragging defenders away and
causing the defence some confusion the ball bounced onto a Rossway shin
and into the net.
In 6 minutes we got the second from great skill down the right from Calpol
gave Leon a chance to scoop the ball over the keeper. 3 minutes later,
Calpol got off the mark with a great strike across goal (just like the training
manual!). And on the quarter hour mark a good James T hit the bar and Calpol
gratefully followed up for his second and to seal the fate of the game.
What a great start. This allowed us to ensure everyone to get fully involved
today and gave a chance to show what we can do. Callum Evington was in
outstanding form, playing out of goal from the start for a change, he terrorised
the Rossway defence with his blistering pace. having already scored two a
through ball from Ethan saw Callum with a 1 on 1 with the keeper - only one
outcome... another goal and Calpol's hat-trick.
Half-time and 5-0 up meant we could concentrate on our passing and movement
and it brought great results - another 6 goals! Without relenting, Nomads
started attacking within minutes, Leon threading a ball to James who
knocked it for Freddy to slot into the right corner. 2 minutes later, Cal G
gave James his first of the day with a coolly taken goal following a run from
half-way.... 8 minutes, Cal G with a superb lobbed shot; 25 mins - Sam side
footed half-volley after a strong run from JT; 28 mins Cal G found the tighest
of angles to take the game into double figures and on the stroke of full-time
Calpol got his 4th with an elegant chip over the oncoming keeper.
Let's not forget what a good defensive and goal-keeping performance we gave
today as well, totally focused and disciplined. It's sometimes easy to drift off
when you have a commanding lead but our defence stuck to their task extremely
well.
More of that please!

Flaterred by the scoreline - at least that's what New Scene should be feeling after today's game. In honesty we probably didn't have enough to win today but they certainly were not 4 goals the better team.
In the telling first half, CNS grabbed four goals to our one and that made the game very difficult to chase. Starting attacking downhill gave CNS the advantage and they grabbed an early lead. But we fought back well and were rewarded when James was doing his George Best impression in the box - dancing around players when they up-ended him. James cooly slotted the ball away from the spot past the impressive CNS keeper.
We had chances to make the game closer with Mitch's tireless and strong running having the better of the New Scene defenders and Shaun holding play up well. The midfield created opportunities for themselves and the strikers and we need to capitalise on this for future games.
Defensively we were strong for much of the game but occassional lapses in concentration were punished by clinical finishing. At this level we need to be constantly aware of how the play is building and where we should be marking players.
As said previously, we're making great strides, we knew it would be tough this year and we really are not far away from these teams. We've now played all the top teams and most of them (3 out of 4) have been away from home. Let's now put a run together to get some points and build confidence.

Match Report By: Phil
A thrilling game played out at Boughton Hall by two very competitive teams. In training we've been working on our speed of thought and passing quality and both were much improved today. The speed of thought is about how quick we close players down when we don't have possession and how quick we can make a good pass when we do.
Nomads started the game playing up the slope with a strong line up and a new found position for Shaun Curran. Shaun played in between midfield and striker and did really well linking the play up and holding the ball. After many attacks, the break through came when Nomads showed good link up play with Mitch passing to Callum and onto Shaun who laid the ball off for James to storm past the right back and put a lovely left foot strike past the keeper. 1-0 on 9 minutes
Looking back at the training, if anything, we were a little too fast as the equaliser came after we jumped into a tackle a little too quickly. Upton broke down their right, Calpol came out of his goal well to narrow the angle but left 1 on 1 there was little he could do. Nomads began working the ball around well with some great runs down the right by Callum and from the left by James. On 20 minutes James looked up and lobbed the ball over the last defender for Mitch to run onto... a right foot half volley was slammed into the top right hand corner. However, Upton pegged us back again following another mis-timed tackle and into the break we went 2-2. All to play for.
Nomads had the much better of this half but it was Upton who took the lead with an unfortunate goal. Upton crossed but found no-one in the box, Fergie parried the ball down only to see it head towards the goal... no panic Ethan was on hand to clear.... what happened next yo couldn't do if you tried, Eth launched his clearance only to find Fergie running back to get the ball - it hit him full on and the ball trickled into the net - very unlucky and totally against the run of play.
Nomads had so many chances in this game the obvious training work for Monday will be shooting practice. We deserved to win and were finding ourselves behind until James beat two defenders before striking a glorious shot over the keeper into the top corner.
Good performances all round.

Football's full of cliches so we'll start with one today by saying the scoreline really doesn't tell the full story. Nomads started the game looking strong and composed and for the first 20 minutes has as many chances as Villa to take the lead.
Villa grabbed a well worked goal in the 21st minute as they started to play the ball about through midfield. Nomads responded well and again had opportunities to draw level but couldn't quite make the last pass or shot to trouble the keeper. Despite this we thought going in 1-0 down at half time it would be all to play for and then with 30 seconds to go, Villa stunned us with a long shot high above the Callum's head, nothing he could have done.
In the second half, with Sam off with an injured thigh and a few fresh legs we began the half looking like we wanted to get somthing from the game. Saldy this wasn't to last as Villa were slightly quicker to the ball and passed the ball around strongly. Four goals in this half really flattered Villa and I'm very pleased to report that we never gave up.
Mark and I were proud of the performance against a highly rated team and despite what the scoreline suggests when we play we're not far off being on a par with these teams.
We've taken a step up this year and so far I think we're adjusting well. Work on the training ground will help us think that bit quicker and ensure when we pass, it makes it to the destination.... get your foot through the ball boys!

Nomads made hard work of their 3-1 win today and needed a penalty to clinch
the points The coaches wanted the boys to use today to put into practice the
training from the previous week - pass & move. It's the movement off the ball
that's as important as the movement on it they were told.... however.... we
never really got out of second gear and looked like we weren't as competitive as
Heygarth who perhaps saw an opportunity to snatch a surprise victory.
Nomads had many chances in the first half but couldn't convert any, not
really testing the keeper and at times not being bold enough to take a pot at
goal. Although Heygarth had spent little time in our half they did get force the
ball over the line for a goal kick. Callum E kicked the ball back into play but
Nomads were caught sleeping as Heygarth got first to the ball to break down
their left; Callum E did everything he could to stop the advancing striker.
Sadly the ball was tucked into the corner of the goal.
Leon made a lovely run into the penalty area and was brought down; he stepped
up for the pen but unfortunately struck a fierce shot against the bar and out.
So at half time we were 1-0 down although we couldn't fully understand it.
With a large squad and everyone available the coaches were left to tinker the
formations and players to try and accommodate everyone. Five minutes into the
second half we got the equaliser. I'd like to say it was straight out of the
text books but sadly that wouldn't be true but what an opportunists goal this
was. Alex won a tackle in the centre circle, looked up and thundered a shot past
a stranded keeper - as a Liverpool fan he now thinks he's Alonso! We should have
heard cries of ‘Alex, from the half-way line, Alex, from the half way line,,,,
James T was in good form, a went on a maizy run, taking on three players
before the fourth had no alternative but to bring him down in the box. The
resultant penalty was well put away by James to relieve the stress the coaches
and parents were feeling on the sidelines!

Nomads started off very brightly against
formidable opposition up at Arrowe Park but couldn't break down a well organised
defence. I don't know whether frustration began to take over after abuot 20
minutes but somehow we let the Eagles back into the game and they looked much
stronger coming in at half time.
With the scores remaining at 0-0 for another ten
in the second half we were thinking maybe Nomads were becoming a bit like
Chelsea... not playing well but still grinding out results. However, all that
changed when the Wirral striker rode a few tackles and struck a fierce shot into
the goal. We needed inspiration but couldn't find it today, passes were going
astray and tackles missed and we found it extremely difficult to break out of
our half in control of the ball.
With ten to go, Eagles struck again and we
couldn't get back. We'll put this down to a blip as we don't always win but we
hardly ever play without some signs of flair and conviction. Come on lads, we
know we're better than this.

Nomads looked like they were determined to win
this one from the beginning, however, shortly into the game we looked a bit
shell-shocked when Neston broke away and managed to slot the ball past the
keeper.
Heads never went down and we began to play
patient creative football and were soon level through Mitch who looks in
inspired form this season so far. Chester Nomads then started to look the
stronger team but were finding it increasingly difficult to break down the
resolute Neston defence. Finally a breakthrough came with James this time the
scorer which took us into half time with a 2-1 lead.
The coaches instructions were clear - keep
passing the ball well and take some shots! At times in the first half we seemed
to want to literally walk the ball into the net. Did the boys listen? Well yes
they did.
A brilliant second half performance saw Nomads
put 5 more goals on the score sheet without reply. Every player played well
today and a few in different positions than they are used to. You can't mention
everyone but Jonesy had a lovely game at right full back as did Josh at left.
Shaun C came on at centre half and looked very comfortable on the ball. Ethan
was outstanding in the middle, Callum G capped a convincing display with a goal
and Freddy did just what we asked with a good finish following a super run.
James was in great creative form, setting up quite a few of the goals today and
bagging one to. All others did extremely well and the substitutions we made
today never once disrupted our flow and style - well done to all.
Happy days!

A tremendous first 11-a-side game for Nomads,
what a performance.
Despite going an early goal down and chasing the
possession Nomads soon settled into their game. Some solid defending from all 4
backs, gave the midfield a superb platform to create. James found space a number
of times to thread the ball through the Rovers defence for Mitch to chase.
After a couple of attempts to get his bearings
Mitch soon brought Nomads back on level terms and shortly after Mitch's saved
shot was slotted in by James to take the lead. Rovers pegged us back to 2-2
before we again took the lead through a superb run by MOM Mitch.
Going into the last ten minutes we thought we'd
be starting our life in the Ellesmere Port League with a great win but credit to
Rovers they kept playing football and found an equaliser via a few bobbles and a
post.
A few injuries meant we needed to shuffle the
team and this disruption in our flow gave Rovers the chance to grab the points.
Very proud performance and a little unfair to lose but that's football and we'll
win more than we lose playing like that. Well done boys, onwards we go.
