Match Report By: Dave

A match arranged as part of our 'End of Seaon Tour' against Aberaeron FC U13s, which combines the U12s & U13s age groups. A very entertaining match with Nomads controlling the early stages of play with good passing and flowing football. A couple of chances from Lloyd early on indicated Nomad's intentions. The first goal from was well taken by Lloyd who latched on to a through ball and calmly lifted it over the advancing keeper. The second from Matt J was a 20 yard strike following a clearance from a corner which was rifled into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Lloyd bagged the third when he broke down the right, skipped outside the defender and fired the ball just inside the far post. The fourth from Ronnie was from a direct free-kick after Connor was brought down. Ronnie calmly thumped the ball into the roof of the net. Aberaeron borrowed 2 of our players to make up the 11-a-side and Aaron made his teamates pay with a superb cross from the right from which the Aberaeron striker scored with a well taken header. Adam was the other player in theAberaeron side and he too had a strong game against his teamates. Aberaeron finished strongly and pulled back another near the end but Nomads never looked like surrendering the lead.

Match Report By: Dave

The last match of the season against the recently crowned league champs was always going to be a difficult game. With several players unavailable, we were only able to field 10 players and although the effort of the lads could not be faulted, giving Bretton a couple of scares, we were never really able to get in the match. Holding Bretton at 0-1 going into the last five minutes, a couple of lapses in concentration saw them take a 0-3 half time lead. We did have a couple of chances in the second half but were unable to convert them.

An arranged friendly against Waverton B who struggled with player availability and played some of there U11 boys. A strong first half showing from Nomads saw them go inat half time leading 4-0. Waverton came back stronger in the second half with Nomads losing their discipline when a desire to get on the scoresheet led to too much individual rather than team play.

Match Report By: Dave

A real cup atmosphere to this game with all goals coming in the first half. With Nomads looking unusually unsure in defence saw the score-line go 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2 & 3-2 to Blacon. Nomads were unable to convert their chances in the second half and Blacon were able to take the points.

Again there were no problems with the Nomad's commitment and effort and with a little bit more luck on their side may have seen a different result. Although Conor got the MOM award it could have gone to any of the other players in the squad. Although a bit of a downer for the Coaches & Parents, this is a game that the boys can go away from with their heads held high.

Match Report By: Dave

Nomads had good passages of play during the game and battled well throughout the match. The superior attacking play of Vicars Cross saw them take the game.

As we have seen many times over the last few weeks, the boys are not letting their heads drop when they fall behind and continue to battle to the final whistle. Sometimes, the desire to get back into the game so much means they get caught out of position and can sometimes pay the price. This was pretty much the case this evening. Nomads conceded 2 goals in the first five minutes only to get their game together and give Vicars Cross a real battle up to half time. An early goal in the second half killed the game off but Nomads continued to battle for every ball. Tiredness and a lack of concentration saw Nomads concede a further 2 goals in the last 7 minutes. A great team effort with several players in the running for MOM with Freddy getting the parent's vote.

Scorers: Aayron

Squad: Matthew Cooper, Louis Boswell, Jack Dilworth, Thomas Johnson, Callum Hopwood, Matthew Jones, Aayron Rafferty, Liam Smith, Freddy Green & Aaron Bell

Match Report By: Dave

The scoreline didn't do the Nomads boys any justice. A series of narrowly missed chances resulted in the Nomads paying the price.

It was always going to be a difficult match having only 10 players available. It was further componded by losing another player for the last 20 minutes of the first half. In very warm conditions the boys battled for every ball and were unlucky not to take the lead with 3 early chances going just wide. Saughall took a 0-2 halftime lead which could easily have been 4-2 to Nomads had their chances gone in. Nomads continued the battle in the 2nd half but went a further goal behind before pulling one back with a well taken goal from Aayron. The boys tired in the last 10 minutes and Saughall bagged another couple. Taking nothing away from Saughall, the Nomads boys battled to the end and deserved something more from the game. A team MOM was awarded by the coaches.

A bright start from Nomads saw the game change with Waverton's superior finishing.

Nomads had a very bright start and if they only had been more clinical with the chances that came their way, they may well have taken the lead. Good finishing from Waverton saw them go in 3 up at half time. Nomads came out fighting in the 2nd half and pulled one back with a well taken goal from Thomas Johnson. The 4th Waverton goal killed off any chance of a comeback with Nomads losing some of the discipline in their play and didn't really look like getting back in the game.

Nomads showed superb fighting spirit yet again. Clear chances were few and far between in difficult weather conditions After conceding a goal early in the first half, Nomads battled for every ball and went in at half time 1 goal down. Some good exchanges in the second half saw Thomas J break through and after pressure from the defender was unlucky to fire just wide. Almost immediately, Vicars Cross repsonded with their second . With Nomads now trying to press further up field, Vicars Cross put the game beyond doubt with a third goal.

A pulsating game with honours shared. Saughall went ahead in the first few minutes with a cross from the left headed in. Nomads countered with a deserved equaliser after fine work with Jack Mc. putting pressure on the golakeeper and Cal following in superbly a few minutes before half time.

The second half saw end to end play with Saughall putting on the pressure but with Nomads looking very dangerous on the counter attack. Tom was outsatnding in the Nomad's goal with at least two world class saves which earned him the Man-of-the-match, however the rest of the boys were not far behind him.

Another exciting match against the Blacon boys with Blacon securing the draw with just about the last kick of the game.

A superb first half performance saw Nomads take control of the game and go in at half time 3-1 up. The second half saw Nomads extend the lead to 4-1 before Blacon staged their comeback. A spirited performance from the whole team saw the MOM awarded to all the Nomads boys.

A scoreline that didn't reflect the effort and determination shown by the Nomads boys. It was always going to be a difficult match against the league leaders who have a 100% record so far.

By going behind to a penalty and an own goal within the first few minutes the boys could have been forgiven for throwing the towel in there and then. However they stuck to the task until the final whistle and were unlucky not to get the break they deserved to at least get a consolation goal.

The management team must be dreading the Chairman's vote of confidence, which is surely not too far away now!

Returning to action after weather had postponed games through November & December Nomads had the majority of the possesion during the game but failed to convert the chances that came their way. Westminster Park on the other hand were clinical in their finishing.

Nomads were unlucky to be 2-0 down at halftime as the Opta Stats indicated that Westminster Park converted their chances and Nomads didn't. Nomads pulled one back in the second half and pushed for the equaliser. Westminster Park clinched the points when they caught Nomads on the counter attack to seal the victory.

A pulsating game in which Nomad's were denied their first win of the season by conceding a penalty in the 3rd minute of added time.

A really competitive match in which Blacon went in at half time 1-0 up. Nomads came back strongly in the 2nd half with goals from Thomas J & Liam. Blacon threw everything but the kitchen sink at Nomads in the last 10 mins and only a superlative display from Tom in goal prevented an equaliser for Blacon in normal time. Just when we thought we had secured our first win of the season an unfortunate handball resulted in a penalty which was converted by Blacon. A great match for the neutral but not so good for the coaches' blood pressure. Keep up the effort and determination boys and that win will come.

A tough match for our boys who were never really allowed to get into the game by a well organised Waverton team.

Having gone 3 goals down at half time, the boys may have been forgiven if they had let their heads drop. In fairness we didn't play well as a team today and the confidence suffered when the 2nd & 3rd goals went in so close to each other. A better 2nd half performance defensively with no goals conceded but overall, never really had the opportunity to trouble the Waverton gaolkeeper.

We have shown a strong team spirit in patches this season but have yet to extend that to a full match. When we can, I'm sure the boys will get the win and the lift that they deserve.

Match Report By: Dave

A friendly arranged due to a lull in games over the half term break. Both teams had depleted squads and we were taking the opportunity to give a run out to our recent new signings.

The U13's opened the scoring but the U12's were soon back in the match with an equaliser from Jack M. 2 more golas saw the U12's go in at half time with a 3-1 lead. The U12's continued their passing game in the second half which resulted in a further 5 goals. A good all round performance from the U12's but we probably caught the U13's on an off day.

From an opposing manager's point of view, the U13's have the individual players but they do need to concentrate on supporting each other and working as a team. No doubt a rematch will be arranged during the next lull in the fixtures which will, I suspect, see a much closer scoreline.

A gripping Cup Tie that was nip and tuck until the end. Thomas Johnson opened the scoring with a well taken header from a corner before Blacon pulled 2 back. Ronnie McDermott marked his debut with a goal following a fine counter attacking move just before half time. There were chances for both sides in the second half with Blacon earning the win with the only goal of that half.

It was a battling performance from the boys who, on another day, may have seen the result go their way.

A great second half display earned us a well deserved draw. We were, I think, a little bit unfortunate not to take all the points.

Positional play was clarified at half time resulting in a much tighter defensive display. After going 1-0 down, and then 3-1 down, this more solid defensive framework let us get forward and score the goals which gained the draw. An opening goal by Aayron was followed by a clinical, surgical strike by Jack Dilworth. The final goal caused some controversy. After a short meeting by the "dubious goals" panel, Louis Boswell's ferocious shot, using a defender's back to wrong foot the keeper, was unanimously credited to him. (I thought the keeper was well beaten Louis, even without the deflection.) It is good to see a week by week improvement in the boys' play, we will continue to work on this in training.

A scoreline that didn't reflect what was a good competetive match. 2-2- at halftime with Vicars Cross coverting all the chances that came their way in the second half.

Vicars Cross took the lead in the first half and Nomads equalised soon after with a well taken goal from Aayron. Nomads then took the lead with an own goal from the visitors. Nomads looked good for the half time lead until Vicars Cross got the benefit of an offside decision that resulted in the equaliser. Nomads started well in the second half but then conceded most chances that came the visitors’ way. Some good individual performances from the Nomads boys but working better as a team will see the hardwork that they put in better rewarded.

Match Report By: Dave

A very lively start from both teams with the best of the initial chances falling to the home team. Nomads best chance of the half fell to Aayron who shot narrowly wide of the keepers right hand post from the opposite side of the penalty area. Nomads were caught on break with balls over the top and went in 0-2 down at half time. A better start to the second half saw Nomads pull the score back to 1-2 with a well worked goal from Aayron. Nomads again got caught on the break and conceded a further 3 goals leaving themselves a mountain to climb being 1-5 down. Nomads then took the game to Saughall and pulled another goal back with a poachers effort from inside the 6 yard box from Ted. Another goal from Saughall effectively put the game beyond Nomads but they surged back again and were awarded a penalty following a fould by the goalkeeper on Cal which was converted by Ted.. Ted then completed his hatrick with a long range effort that looped over the Saughall goalkeeper. Nomad's battled to the end with only the strong resistance of the Saughall defence preventing a unlikely comeback. The Saughall Manager's view that Nomads didn't deserve to lose the game summed up the fine display by the whole squad.

Our first home match of the season which was switched to Sealand Manor due to pitch availability.

A strong start from Bretton Super Saints who put pressure on the Nomad's defence for most of the first half with Tom Shotton pulling off a string of fine saves. Jack McGarva had the best chance for Nomads in the first half with a strike from just inside the penalty area with the Bretton keeper pulling off a fine save. Bretton went in at half time 2 goals to the good.

The second half saw Nomads taking the game to Bretton but a solid defence resulted in limited opportunities. With Nomads now chasing the game Bretton were able to put the match beyond them with some good finishing, resulting in a final score of 0-6.

A superb display from Tom Shotton earned him the MOM award from the parents
