What an end to the Chester Nomads first ever girls team season.
Nomads took the lead through a Becky O'Brien long throw which the keeper could not hold and deflected the ball into her own net. The long throws unsettled Waverton who struggled to cope each time the ball was thrown in.
The decisive second goal came in the 3rd quarter with a well worked move which started deep in the Nomads half. From the half way line on the left the ball was passed to the opposite side of the pitch where Mia
Gittins (MoM) took on two defenders before delivering an inch perfect cross for Abigail Wilcox to lash into the top corner giving the keeper no chance at all.
In what was Abigail 's last game for the Nomads, she was denied a second goal just minutes later when a well struck shot from the edge of the area was parried by the keeper and appeared to cross the line before the keeper smothered it at the second attempt. The ball was judged not to have crossed the line by the referee who was simply not in a position to see. This is clear evidence for the introduction of goal line technology.
The third goal came in the dying minutes when Waverton again failed to cope with a Beck O'Brien long throw to the far post. This time Mia was on hand to tap the ball home. Well done girls, enjoy the summer break.

A much better performance to finish our home fixtures with. With only 7 players available this week everyone had to work hard to contain a Buckley squad of almost double.
Nomads took the lead in two minutes through a well taken goal. Buckley struck back early in the second quarter to level at 1 - 1.
The remainder of the game was keenly contested with both sides having a number of chances. As the game reached its dying moments victory was snatched by the Nomads following an unfortunate Buckley back pass which went straight through the keepers legs and into the goal.

After a good start and holding Mold for most of the 1st quarter, heads dropped following a goal mouth scramble that put Mold infront.
A series of long range efforts from a dominant Mold side peppered the Nomads goal and slowly but surely Mold pressed home their superiority.
In short, this was a game in which we were never in contention. That said, it was a game the girls must, as I am sure they will, learn from.
Keep going and remember just how far you have come in a short few months. Well done.

Match Report By: Assistant Director
This was always going to be a difficult game. Unlike the Dynamos U11 team we played back in November of last year, the U13's team is well established and finished runners up in the league last season. That said, ours girls were ready for the challenge and put in a brave team performance.
Despite going behind to two early goals the Nomads raised their game and forced an own goal following a well delivered corner late in the first quarter.
The Dynamos eventually ran out 5 - 1 winners with an excellent display
football but at no time did the Nomads heads drop. Each player gave everything to the final whistle and will all learn a great deal as they strive to reach the standard of the Dynamos.
Just a few short months ago no one could have dreamt of taking on a team of this quality, well done to everyone for a spirited performance.

What a game!
We were playing against a Waverton team that has just been formed, but with a
squad twice the size of our it was always going to prove a stern test.
Waverton scored the first goal after a bit of indecision in our defence. We
then scored a spectacular equaliser. The impressive Becky O'Brien won the ball
deep in our half and powered her way down the left wing, cut inside and let
loose an unstoppable shot past their keeper. It was an end to end match with
strong tackles and total commitment from both teams. There was some excellent
determined play from Nomads with some skillful football.
Against a strong head wind in the third quarter Abbie played particularly
well giving her total commitment, defending, breaking up attacks and
distributing the ball to our attackers. Mia who had again played tirelessly throughout got a well deserved goal to put Nomads in front.
In the final quarter with the wind behind us, Nomads secured victory with two
late goals from our Player of the Match, Sarah who scored close range efforts to
round off a excellent performance with her non stop running and forward play.
All the girls contributed to this excellent game and everyone is improving
week by week.

This was another gritty performance by an ever improving squad. During a very competitive first quarter the Nomads went behind to a well worked goal from Buckley.
The Nomads equalised midway through the second quarter when our long throw specialist, Becky, caused panic in the Buckley defence with a probing throw in which was turned into the net by a bemused Buckley defender.
Leading goal scorer Mia, put the Nomads ahead before Becky blasted in a third through a well worked move. Mia added a forth
with the goal of the game following a blistering run down the left wing before cutting inside the defence and finishing a superb solo effort with a shot low to the keepers right.
Buckley fought back hard in the closing stages as our girls understandably began to tire ,but through some strong defending and a series of fine saves from Amy (Player of the match) the Nomads stood firm.
Buckley did get a late consolation goal but by that time the game was safe.
Congratulations girls on a well deserved and hard fought away win.

This was a very good test for our girls in only their second match. Vicars Cross had some younger players but they were a well organised team.
'Birthday Girl' Mia opened the scoring with a blistering shot that their goalie had no chance of saving. Everyone played well from goal keeper to the forwards. We played some lovely football, the defence were solid, the midfield worked tirelessly and the forwards chased every ball.
The Dynamos equalised with a goal that somehow squeezed its way into the net. The game was very competitive with both sides giving everything. Vicars Cross were tackling well as we pushed forward looking for the winning goal. That goal came from our 'Player of the Match', Mia when she jinked her way through the defence and shot past the keeper.
A very exciting game. Well played girls.

This was our very first match against a strong Mold team who are established members of the North Wales league. This was the first time some of our girls had been involved in a proper match situation, so they were understandably a bit apprehensive.
We let in 3 early goals but the girls heads didn't drop one bit, they continued to get their tackles in and defend well against a very well organised Mold team. The girls never gave up and every player worked very hard and gave their best.
You could see the girls were feeling more comfortable as the game progressed.
Although Mold scored another 3 goals we continued to defend well and had a few chances on goal that were saved by their keeper.
It was a very good display. Well done Girls.
