It was another busy weekend across Nomads’ senior sides, with Cup action taking centre stage as the Firsts claimed the standout result of the weekend:
Attentions turned away from the league for the Firsts this weekend as the Ambers progressed in the Pyke Cup with a 3-1 victory at Boughton Hall against Mallaby.
After a slow start, Nomads fell behind early on, but showed great character to take control of the game either side of half time with Tom Rowlands netting a brace - taking him to 13 goals for the season - to turn the tie on its head.
As the game opened up and the visitors pushed forward in search of an equaliser, a moment of magic ended the contest: Ben Coward backheeled the ball into the path of Charlie Mann to finish calmly to score his second goal in two games since returning, and seal Nomads’ place in the next round.
With strong performances across the pitch, it was Kyle Smyth who took home the Man of the Match - back to full fitness and covering every blade of grass in Amber.
Friday night football in West Cheshire League 2 saw the Seconds fall to a 6-0 defeat away at unbeaten Vauxhall Motors Reserves.
After a good first-half showing, the Ambers conceded in stoppage time to fall behind, and that proved a turning point as the hosts took control after the break, eventually running out 6-0 winners.
A tough one to take after the opening 45 minutes, but there were both positives and lessons for the group to take moving forward into the festive period.
In the CWFL Life Members Cup, the Thirds were edged out in a nine-goal thriller at Boughton Hall against Upton JFC Reserves.
A slow start led to Upton taking an early lead, but a fantastic free-kick from Trey Lattie brought Nomads level before Upton regained the advantage to lead 2-1 at the break.
A chaotic start to the second half saw Nomads concede three quick goals to fall 5-1 behind, but after settling and gaining control, the Ambers mounted a spirited comeback. Goals from Seb Dunn, James Lloyd and George Cornes brought Nomads back to within touching distance with five minutes remaining.
Given the events two weeks earlier, hope surged when Nomads won a last-minute corner, but after a goalmouth, a superb save from the Upton keeper denied the equaliser and secure a 5-4 win for the visitors.
The Fourths were also in CWFL Life Members Cup action as they hosted current holders Mersey Royal Vets at the Garrison.
Against an outstanding side, a young Nomads team gave everything but were defeated 7–0 and bowed out of the competition.
The 6ths lost 5-2 to Liobans at the Oval Bebington despite taking an early lead from Callum Davies, assisted by debutant Colin.

A formation change and a needless penalty saw the team trail 2-1 at the break. Though Joe Davies pulled one back (3-2) following good pressure by Marek, Liobans quickly scored two more to seal the 5-2 win.
Standouts: Manny was Man of the Match. Matt Booth had an excellent game in goal on his return, alongside strong defensive performances from Stewart and Adam Palmer.
The anticipated Masters vs. Vets clash for the Jewsbury Cup lived up to the hype on Saturday, proving a tight contest despite the deteriorating pitch and a last-minute squad reduction for the Masters.

After finishing the first half locked at 0-0, the Masters conceded quickly after the break, with the Vets scoring from a corner just four minutes in. The game was effectively sealed by a sensational "worldie" from 30 yards that kissed the post on its way in.
Adam Curry earned a clear Man of the Match award, tirelessly covering the midfield and dominating the tackle count.
Other standouts included Hayden Evans for his effortless work rate and Andy (Tino) Smith who bravely ploughed a lone furrow up front.
Despite the loss, spirits remained high as both squads shared a great night out afterward
