Chairman’s Report: October 2025

We are back!

The long summer nights are now long forgotten and weekends of relaxation have now been replaced by mornings of searching for kit and boots that seem to always somehow end up somewhere other than where you left it.

On the first weekend back at Boughton Hall we had hoped that the offer of free chip butties for the kids would draw in the crowds, mother nature unfortunately had other ideas and the day ended up being a bit of a washout. On a positive note we now have a new menu in place for Saturday's at the club, please pop in before or after your game and support your club and spend some time with your teammates or fellow parents

SENIORS

1st Team – Joe Cossins

Start of the month started very frustratingly. A match abandoned in the Cheshire cup due to an injury, which was replayed the week after which resulted in a 1-0 loss to Moreton. Very tough result to take.

ree

However, we bounced back with back to back wins. 2-0 win at home to Rainhill in the new league cup, followed up by a great 2-1 win away at Marshalls.

Will hopefully pick up a bit of momentum now going into November.

Player of the month Luca Jones, first season at 18 years old and been brilliant this month, hopefully more to come

3rds Dan Ward

September was a mixed bag for us - still feeling the summer holidays hangover and not having a full, consistent squad led to a poor start in the league. Results didn’t go our way but the performances moved in the right direction through the month.

A relatively tight game for 60 minutes vs Upton saw us pick up multiple injuries and finish the last 20mins with 10 men which cost us dearly.

We follow that up with a close contest 3-2 loss - a game where we had a full squad against 11-men Handbridge team who were well drilled and did what they needed for the win.

Finally, a much better performance vs Blacon saw us lose 1-0 to a penalty in the first half. A closely fought game where 0-0 would have been a fair result; but the first real game we looked solid at the back and created chances for ourselves up top.

Momentum followed with a first win last weekend vs Hoole Rovers. Dominant performance that saw us capitalise on chances in front of net and put us out of sight in the first half.

Player of the Month: George Moore

Defensively solid and offered us a lot in CM when needed. Calm on the ball and aggressive in the tackle when needed

6ths Damian Auden

The 6ths started their 25/26 season at the garrison early September against Wirral vets. Having taken a deserved 3-1 lead we ended in defeat 5-3 having conceded 5 set piece goals! We travelled to Saughall vets for a debut fixture and although we went 2 goals down in 10 minutes managed to compose ourselves and having missed umpteen chances we managed to win 3-2 in the end. Marek leads the goal scoring charts with an impressive 2 goals. Onwards and upwards.....

Masters Chris Bain

The worst start to a season in memory, who knew that giving a bunch of 40 & 50+ year old men the whole summer off would result in everyone turning up like they had never seen a football before!

There were a few highlights, we hosted the RAF Veterans at Boughton Hall and made them feel very welcome by culturally appropriating their standard dress code

ree

Then it was off to London on tour to face Old Aloysians, a former club of our very own Pete Fitzpatrick. We took the train down to that there London on Friday evening to help us acclimatise to the local air. Following a very quiet evening on the Friday night we took to the field on the Saturday morning at the very peak of our physical and mental health. Unfortunately the match ended in defeat to keep our consistent start to the season going. We then spent Saturday evening taking in the sights of London before retiring to bed at 10pm with mugs of tea and a good book

JUNIORS

The season is back in full swing and every square inch of grass is being used every weekend, we're all hoping for a mild winter to get as many games on as possible. Below I've highlighted a few good news stories, if you want your team featured then please speak to your manager and put something together and you can have your teams name in lights

U7s

ree

Every year we welcome in two or three new teams to the club in the hope that someday they'll be playing first team football at Boughton Hall. This year we were lucky enough to gain three new teams and even luckier when Chris Steggles at Steggles Wealth came forward and offered to sponsor all 3 teams.

The opening day of the season saw all 3 teams win their matches which is a fantastic start to the season, long may it continue

U13 Tigers

ree

The U13 Tigers have had a fantastic start to the season. Moving to 11-a-side can be a tough transition but the team look like they have been playing it for years. An 8-0 win against Vauxhall Vivas was followed up by a 7-0 win against West Kirby. The third game was a tough challenge against the league winners from last year, Vauxhall Corsas. A 3-2 victory kept the Tigers top of the league. It is especially pleasing to see how quickly the new players have settled in to playing with the team in Eastham Division 1.

Thank you to our new sponsors Barlows for our kit and training tops.
