Costly Errors in Nomads' Cup Exit

Rainhill 4

First Team 2

Cup Match Review

Chester Nomads suffered a disappointing cup exit on the road at Rainhill, with costly errors undermining an otherwise competitive performance.

An early kick-off and a strong prevailing wind made for a challenging away fixture, but Nomads started the brighter of the two sides, creating the more dangerous chances. Despite that promising opening, an unforced error allowed Rainhill to take an early lead.

The response was excellent. Debutant Tom Pritchard picked up possession in midfield and played a superb pass in behind for Ben Coward, who finished confidently to bring Nomads level.

Unfortunately, further errors proved costly, allowing the hosts to take a 3–1 lead into half-time.

Following a strong message from manager Joe at the break, Nomads returned with a point to prove and were the stronger side throughout the second half. However, as they pushed to reduce the deficit, Rainhill struck on the counter. Some neat combination play opened up a chance, and a well-taken finish made it 4–1.

Nomads continued to apply pressure, with Cam Clark producing an excellent header to pull the score back to 4–2. Despite their efforts, there was no further breakthrough, and that remained the final score.

A frustrating afternoon, with plenty of endeavour and some good football ultimately undone by avoidable mistakes. Nomads now have one cup competition remaining and will look to turn their positive spells into a more complete performance next time out.

To add salt to the wounds, Nomads also suffered an injury to Tucker, who has been excellent of late. We wish him a speedy recovery.

A real highlight was the performance of debutant Tom Pritchard. In his first outing alongside the lads, he was competitive throughout and a real bright spark, marking his debut with an excellent assist.

Devs' Comeback Falls Short in 9 goal thriller

Development 3

The Grange 6

Chester Nomads Development suffered a 6-3 defeat away at The Grange in the CWFL Championship.

The Devs showed good character to fight back from being 2-0 down, with Bobby Bain scoring twice from right back and Jake Haynes also finding the net to put Nomads 3-2 ahead inside the second half.

However, a difficult 10 minute spell mid way through the second half saw the game turn on its head, with three goals conceded as The Grange regained control and ultimately secured the points.

Masters Clinch Jewsbury Cup with Dramatic Second-Half Comeback

Jewsbury Cup Final

Sixths 2

Masters 3

With season long bragging rights at stake the message pre match was clear, start strong and look to dominate the game.

Masters
Masters

Let’s just miss out the first half and go straight into the second half. After a very short but to the point team talk Masters went out with some renewed vigour and a ringing in their ears.

With 60 minutes on the clock Masters were awarded a penalty, we can only imagine that in the spirit of the Jewsbury Cup Jon Roberts decided to hit it straight at the keeper!

However 10 minutes later Jon vindicated himself when he went through on goal and rounded to keeper to score.

Within 5 minutes the scores were level, Pete Tuma rifled a shot across the keeper into the far corner and Masters were finally in the ascendancy.

With 10 minutes to go Gossie picked it up inside the 6ths half and burst through the defence, with bodies littered all around him he smashed it past the keeper to make it 3-2.

Masters were incredibly lucky to win after a very poor first half, 6ths must be wondering how they didn’t win the game today and the top answer is Pete Tuma. Pete was excellent today and ran the show for us, almost single handedly dragging us back into the game in the second half. Although we didn’t play to our best today we’ll take the win and the trophy, sometimes you’ve just got to roll with it.

Nomads Youth Triumph with Dominant Second-Half Comeback Against Mossley Hill

Nomads Youth 5

Mossley Hill 2

A strong second-half performance helped Nomads Youth secure a well-deserved 5–2 victory over Mossley Hill, with the boys showing a positive response after letting an early lead slip.

Nomads started brightly, setting the tempo and putting Mossley Hill under pressure from the outset. That positive approach was rewarded with a deserved two-goal lead, giving the boys a strong platform to build on.

However, a dip in energy and concentration allowed Mossley Hill back into the game. The visitors took advantage with two quickfire goals just before half-time, leaving the sides level at the break and Nomads with work to do.

The response in the second half was excellent. Nomads came out with renewed focus, winning their individual battles and working harder across the pitch. As the pressure on Mossley Hill increased, the forward line really got the bit between their teeth.

Goals from Fabian and Harry Harrison, along with a superb long-range drive from Lucas, saw Nomads take control and turn an evenly poised game into a convincing victory.

A solid team performance and a valuable reminder of the importance of maintaining concentration and intensity. The boys deserve real credit for their second-half reaction, showing the determination and attacking quality to finish the job in style.

Well played, boys!
