Chester Nomads Secure Dominant 2–0 Victory Over Malaby

Chester Nomads secured a deserved 2–0 home win over a competitive Malaby side in another hard-fought game.

Still working to regain the form and consistency shown at the end of last season, Nomads started brightly despite difficult conditions. They were the more dominant side in possession, with Ben Coward and Dan Richman linking well down the right-hand side early on.

The midfield provided a strong platform throughout. Louis Moss made an excellent return to the side, while Luca Jones put in an outstanding all-round display to earn Man of the Match.

Nomads made their positive start count after 12 minutes. Brandon played a superb defence-splitting pass through to Benjamin Coward, who kept his composure to slot home and give the hosts the lead. The second arrived around the 20-minute mark, with Brandon involved again—this time getting himself on the scoresheet.

The lads managed the remainder of the half well, heading into the break 2–0 up with a clean sheet.

As expected, Malaby came out with more intent in the second half, but Nomads stood firm. They continued to look the stronger side both with and without the ball, while remaining competitive and disciplined throughout.

There was an opportunity to make it 3–0 from the penalty spot, but Charlie Mann was denied by a good save from the Malaby goalkeeper. With around ten minutes remaining, the Malaby keeper was then shown a straight red card after being adjudged to have handled the ball outside the area.

Nomads saw the game out to secure a deserved 2–0 win and an important clean sheet.

Chester Nomads Development Fall to Hoole Rovers Despite Late Consolation Goal

Chester Nomads Development were beaten 4-1 by Hoole Rovers in the CWFL Championship.

The Devs made a poor start and found themselves 2-0 down at half time after failing to take chances with the game still at 1–l-0.

The second half brought more frustration, with Hoole capitalising on mistakes to add two further goals and put the result beyond doubt.

Nomads did have the final say, with Bobby Bain finding the top corner with a long range effort in the closing moments of the game.

Nomads Vets Battle to a Draw in Action-Packed Match

After a few weeks off and what can only be described as an intensive padel tournament training camp, the Nomads Vets were finally back in action, welcoming Blacon Vets to the Garrison.

There was plenty of excitement before kick-off, not least because a couple of the younger Nomads were officially joining the old guard, with Ed Moss and Wiggle making their Vets debuts.

Ed’s biggest concern wasn’t the opposition, his fitness or the fact he was playing with a load of old men — it was the size of the Vets tops. Having been warned they were “oversized”, Ed was convinced he’d been handed Cairnsy’s son’s kit. He was shocked to discover it was only an XL. Standards have clearly slipped.

Nomads started slowly and struggled to create much in the opening stages, but after about 20 minutes they finally decided they’d better start playing football.

A lovely switch of play from Ste Cairns found Jack Del, who cut inside before calmly burying one at the near post. 1-0 Nomads.

The lads continued to have the better of things for the remainder of the half but failed to put the game to bed when they had the chance.

The second half followed a similar script, with Nomads once again taking their time to get going. A few questionable decisions saw Blacon turn things around and take a 2-1 lead.

To make matters worse, Nomads also had a perfectly good goal ruled out. At least that’s how the Nomads VAR department saw it.

A couple of defensive mix-ups then gave Blacon the chance to put the game beyond doubt. But just when it looked like the Vets might be heading for a defeat, Lloydy produced a heroic save.

And just to clarify, Lloydy wasn’t actually in goal. He just clearly fancied making sure everyone remembered his contribution.

Blacon were then awarded a penalty, but after deciding to change their penalty taker, the new man stepped up and proceeded to launch the ball somewhere towards the A55.

A huge let-off for Nomads.

With the clock ticking down, Nomads finally found another gear and continued to push for an equaliser. And sure enough, Jack Del popped up again to grab his second of the afternoon and deservedly level things up.

The lads pushed for a winner but, in the end, had to settle for a share of the points.

A decent afternoon for the Vets, two goals for Jack Del, a debut for Ed and Wiggle, a missed penalty, a few VAR-worthy decisions and absolutely no sign of anyone admitting responsibility for the defensive mistakes.

All in all, just another normal day at the office for the Nomads Vets.

Nomads Triumph with Second-Half Surge Against Liverpool Ramblers

Masters welcomed Liverpool Ramblers to Boughton Hall for a friendly on the opening weekend.

A drab first half with very few chances for either team saw us going into the break with the game at 0-0

Some tactical tweaks and we went back out with renewed optimism. Within 10 minutes Nomads were in front. A great cross from right lead to a scramble in the box and Baino set it back to the edge of the box for Pete Tuma to rifle it past the keeper. Pete was involved again in the next goal, this time he turned provider for Hayden Evans to slot it home.

Hayden then took Pete’s job when he assisted Dave Croucher to make it 3 with 10 minutes to go. After that the game started to Fade Away

MOTM was very close run but Pete Tuma just edged it from Hayden and Adam. Great to see Pete back in top form.

Nomads' Resilient in Thrilling Draw

Fairy even first half, perhaps the best chances going to the opposition but the Nomads grew in confidence as the game progressed. 0-0 at HT.

A penalty to Mersey Royal in the 3rd min of the second half to open the scoring didn’t dent our boys confidence as it continued to grow throughout the game. HH found the equaliser with 30min to go. Another pen this time to the Nomads made it 1-2 with 10 to go. The lads continued to dominate the second half and hit the bar, then hit the inside of the right post and could have sealed the win a couple more times before MR finally got their equaliser in the 6th minute of IT.

TBF a tidy overhead kick (miss-kick if you ask Ian) to earn both teams a point. A fair result maybe but the lads will be disappointed not to have bagged all 3 point.
