First Team
Struggles Continue for Firsts, But Youth Players Seb & Cam Shine
Firsts slow start to the season continues with the worst performance out the lot against South Liverpool. 3-1 defeat flattered us as we struggled to create much especially in the second half. The one goal coming from the manager, Joe Cossins.
On a brighter note, 2 lads from the youth team made their first team debuts, Cam and Seb
MOM Cam , showed more fight and desire than most of the others in an amber shirt at just 16 years old, putting some more experienced players to shame
Masters
Masters Show Resilience in Pre-Season Opener Despite Narrow Defeat
Masters travelled to Queen’s Park for the first game of pre season.
Unable to raise a full team we were incredibly grateful for the help from our other teams, huge shouts to Tom Cairns, Si Taylor , Hibb and Kenny.
The game started as expected, QP having lots of the ball and controlling possession. We defended stoutly and looked in control. Then with only 10 minutes left of the half a corner came in, broke to QP and they took the lead.
The half time team talk was all about continuing to do what we had done well in the first half and pushing forward a bit more.
We then went out and absolutely dominated the game, chances were coming thick and fast and we just couldn’t put them away. With an hour gone manager Baino had a brainwave and brought himself on up front!
Only 2 minutes later some fantastic work by Tom Cairns down the left hand side left the full back with twisted blood, the cross came in and with his first touch Baino levelled the game.
The pressure kept coming, Nomads in total control, Al Schumaker and Mike Sixsmith running the midfield and making it look easy.
Then with 5 minutes to play QP broke away and scored with a fantastic finish in Barnesy far corner.
Nomads kept pushing forward and were denied a penalty for a push on Kenny by the ‘local’ referee.
The match ended in defeat but plenty of positives and minutes in the legs.
Fantastic performances from Al and Mike in the middle of the park, Thommo and Bones at the back. Was also great to see a great debut for Dave Croucher.
