Firsts
Big win for the firsts, 5-1 win against Litherland Remyca Reserves. Proper performance after a loss last week, dominated the game from start to finish. Louis Moss and Cam Clark coming back from injury massive plus for us going into a massive run of fixtures.
Goals coming from Ben Coward, Kyle Smyth, Marco Apollonio and the most in form goalscoring right back in the world at the minute James Tucker, who grabbed 2 more goals. Proving I’m right that he’s a defender and not a midfielder.
Reserves
A point on the board for the seconds, 2-2 draw at the Garrison against AFC Knowsley u23s. Game of two halves as we dominated the first 45, and they did the second.
Went in at the break 2-0 up thanks to a ‘Taberner’ brace. First, Stan Taberner finished off a neat move at the back post to open the scoring, before he turned provider for dad, Rob, who nodded home our second.
Knowsley threw everything at us and drew level with two late goals. We could’ve won it last kick of the game, but Mikey Stamper’s excellent free kick beat the keeper but rattled the crossbar. MOTM Jack Minshull - got a ridiculous highlight reel of saves this season, and added two more yesterday.
Thirds
Vets
The vets travelled to Tranmere to play Queens Park who had a very strong home record compared to our very poor away record. We backed ourselves at 6-1 at Paddy Power and claimed a 4-2 victory.
We were helped early on by their keeper throwing the ball into his own goal and a crisp finish from Danny to give us a 2-1 lead at half time.
At the start of the 2nd half the Danny Andrews completed his hat trick to give us some breathing space. A break away goal from Queens Park could have meant a nervy finish but luckily we picked up Phil Hamilton wandering the streets of Chester on the way and he curled home a wonderful fourth to put the tie to bed.
It was too difficult to choose an MOM. James was outstanding in goal, the defence were all solid as a rock, the midfield all covered over 10km in the game and the attack all looked dangerous.
The Cup Final is on 18th April.
Sixths
The 6ths welcomed Whitegate vets to Boughton Hall for the final BH game before moving over to the Garrison to see out the season. They certainly looked a bit younger than us and their pre match training drills had us a bit concerned as we were just looking forward to the Hot Pot 😁

Hibb and Stewart made their 20th appearance of the season and were putting on a display of excellent passing football for the 4 brave ultras to enjoy.
We had a couple of youngsters from the masters. Both Phil and Adam showed composure and excellence throughout the game.
Simon hit double figures for the season with another ridiculous strike from 30 yards (with a little help from the wind) putting us into an early deserved lead.
An early dash up the M6 and Marc was all set for net duties only to be harshly awarded an own goal (again the wind 🤔) for the equaliser.
We played arguably our best game of the season with controlled passing football and there were many contenders for motm most notably Adam Palmer at left back and Gilly centre back both were superb and have been consistently good all season. Worth noting Andy Griffiths was brilliant and Manny put a shift in (thankfully we had no var 😜)
Our winning goal involved at least 6 players most notably Clive's 1 yard round the corner pass which had the ultras purring and finished in some style by Marek who was on top form all game, staying out of Marc's box and popping up at the right time to smash home the winner, running off with motm award as well 👏👏 great to get a win but more importantly a good run out, we go again next week.....
Masters
Nomads Masters travelled to Northwich to take on Ashton Masters in the Legends Plate final.
With the usual threadbare squad we took on the challenge head on. With horrendous weather and a pitch that was a leveller we set out to try and win the game.
The first half was a game of very few chances but we had the majority of the opportunities
With less that 10 minutes gone in the second half we managed to get the decisive goal. Sean Doolan latching on to a through ball and slotting past the keeper.
We had further chances but Lloyd Palmer was denied by the post and the keeper made some great saves.
We managed to see the game out and keep the clean sheet.
MOM - Mike Sixsmith, captain fantastic on the day, covered every blade of grass on the day.
Hotpot
Saturday 28th March saw us celebrate our 122nd annual hotpot. With the venue ready we welcomed 110 attendees on the evening. A fantastic evening was in store for all attending
Our MC for the evening Jim Law opened proceedings with his usual inimitable wit and good humour. No one is safe when Jim is on the mic.
It was then on our Chairman Chris Bain to begin the evening. Chris first asked everyone to raise a glass to absent friends. He then spoke about how important it was for volunteers to help run the club and keep everyone playing. He then gave a quick talk on each team with the odd witty remark thrown in for good measure.
Dave Killoran current cricket president and Nomad of the year 2012 then said Grace as we prepared to eat.
We were treated to a fantastic hotpot thanks to Dougherty and Allen.
After dinner we had a speech from our first team attacker Cam Clark. Cam has been at Nomads since he was 6 and after finishing Uni he came back to the club he started at. A fantastically humorous speech regaling us with tales of his junior and senior managers.
Joe Cossins then came up to present the young player and player of the year awards.
Tom Rowlands took the award for Player of the year and Luca Jones took the award for Young player of the year.
Chris Bain then awarded Social Nomad of the year to Mark Johnson from the 6th team for his outstanding contribution to the social section.
Steve Smith then took to the microphone to award Nomad of the year. This year it was awarded to Chris Fleet, a nomad player from when he was a youngster until he was in his 40s. A nomads supporter forever.
Then our comedian took to the stage. John Martin had the crowd in the palm of his hand, no one was safe and everyone was laughing.
Jim Law wrapped up the evening with a thanks to everyone who attended and those who had helped to make the evening such a success.
Then it was time for the last few drinks as taxis arrived and took Nomads all over Chester. No reports on that, what goes on hotpot stays on hotpot!
Hopefully see you all next year
