Chairman’s Report: September 2025

SENIORS

The Senior season kicked off in August for our four league teams, a mixed bag to start the season, you can read below what each of the managers have to say.

Presidents Match

ree

This year saw us introduce a season opening match, referred to as the Presidents Game. In honour of our current President Bob Delgado we had two teams playing with each team captained by Bob’s sons Dan and Jack

In a tight game that saw some current players and a few celebrity appearances from previous players the game ended 2-2. A shootout then began and unfortunately there had to be a winner and a loser, the Jack’s Blues triumphed over Dan’s Ambers in the end.

The match raised over £400 for Dementia UK which is a fantastic achievement, well done and thank you to everyone who donated.

Next season we plan to mix the game up and have a Junior Coaches select team against one of our Senior teams. Full Details will follow later in the season

1st Team – Joe Cossins

We’ve had an up and down start to the season, where we feel we should be in a much better position as we’ve dropped points where sometimes we’ve been deserving of more. After a top 4 finish last season this isn’t the start we were hoping for but with holidays and injuries we’ve struggled for consistency. Hopefully now that we’re only playing on Saturdays instead of playing midweek too we can start to develop a rhythm and get a run of results together

We’re hoping to put two our last two bad results behind us in the Cheshire cup this weekend

Player of the Month: Tom Rowlands

Standout player has to be Tom. 9 goals in a month and some outstanding

performances to go with it, including all 5 goals in an away match to Aintree Villa.

2nds - Dan Burns / Matt Steel

It’s been a busy start for a new look Reserves in a really competitive division. We’ve started with five games in 13 days and whilst results haven’t come yet, the signs are encouraging.

We got our first point on the board on Friday night (22nd August) with a very late equaliser,

which was a great reward for the effort the lads have been putting in. Victor Arogundade has three goals in three games, while Sandro Malletta has taken on the captaincy of the Reserves and is leading the group positively on and off the pitch.

Performances have been improving with every game as the group continues to gel and take on the tactical work from the management team. We’ve also had fantastic support from the Firsts and Thirds. Last season the Reserves didn’t register a point until October and only picked up two wins right at the end of the campaign, so we’re heading in the right direction.

Off the pitch we’re still looking to strengthen the squad further in the coming weeks, and we have 11 players already paid up on their memberships.

Finally, our neighbours at Boughton Hall have possibly seen more of our footballs than we have! Luckily a few have given back to us after being round but a number have disappeared over the hedges into gardens, never to be seen again. We’re completely out of match balls and running short on training balls - but at least we’ve made some new friends!

Player of the Month: Sandro Malletta

Sandro was named captain over the summer pre season and has had a great impact on a mostly new group of players

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3rds Dan Ward

The opening weeks have been challenging in terms of results, not helped by the early August start when a number of players were unavailable due to holidays. That said, performances are improving and we are beginning to play some good football - looking like we’re finding a style of play that suits the team.

ree

Training sessions have been very well attended, fitness levels are noticeably improving, and there is a strong, positive atmosphere within the squad. With a more consistent group available, we expect to build momentum and see stronger results in the coming months.

Player of the Month: George Cornes

A constant in the team in the early stages of the season. A real box to box midfielder giving us legs for 90 minutes every week and offering a touch of quality of when we need to slow things down and take control of the game

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4ths Will Stevenson

After a rocky start to the season, things are starting to look at lot more positive having signed 8 new players!

ree

A decent start with winning 1 of our opening 2 games this season, Matt HJ and Macauley Salter scoring in a 2-1 away win in the debut of our new kit sponsored by PureWager

Player of the Month:

Barney Lines Hembrey

Fantastic performance in nets on Saturday to help us to victory
