FC Bootle 3

Another bad day at the office for the first team, 3-0 loss to a very good Bootle side who were just better all over the pitch unfortunately.

Second half was better than the first, where we just couldn’t get the ball in the net, but gave ourselves too much work to do conceding 2 soft goals in the first half then conceding late on whilst chasing the game. 2 bad injuries to big players made a bad night even worse.

Handbridge 2

3rds Extend Unbeaten Run with Emphatic 8–2 Victory

Chester Nomads 3XI extended their unbeaten start to the season with an emphatic 8–2 victory away to Handbridge, making it five games without defeat.

This week we faced a Handbridge side who have endured a difficult start to the campaign. Previous meetings between the two teams have shown that either side is capable of coming out on top, but we took control early and never gave the hosts an opportunity to gain a foothold in the game.

Nomads went into the break 3–1 ahead, but there was a feeling that there was still another level to come. The message at half-time was to keep the intensity high, push on and put the game beyond doubt.

That’s exactly what followed.

Some outstanding quality in the final third proved to be the difference between the two sides, with Charlie Orlser, Trey Lattie, Charlie Jones and Matt Harland-Jones all getting themselves on the scoresheet.

However, the afternoon belonged to James Lloyd, who produced a ruthless display in front of goal, scoring four times and deservedly picking up this week’s Man of the Match award.

The pick of the goals came from Matt Harland-Jones, who rifled an unstoppable strike from outside the box into the top-left corner, leaving the Handbridge keeper with absolutely no chance.

It capped another dominant performance from the 3rds, who continue to build momentum after an excellent start to the season.

The result sees us move up to second in the CWFL Premiership, just one point behind the leaders, with some big fixtures on the horizon.

TFA 5

Chester Nomads Development suffered a disappointing 5-2 defeat to TFA in the CWFL Championship.

A poor start saw the Devs fall 2-0 behind, but Nick Crouch and George Cartwright sparked a spirited response to bring Nomads level. TFA regained the lead before the break leaving the Devs with work to do in the second 45.

A half time reshuffle brought an improved second half display, but chasing the game left Nomads vulnerable and TFA added two late goals to seal the result.

Youth Team 1

Vauxhall Youth 1

It certainly wasn’t a festival of football, but it was a proper battle from start to finish!

Nomads came up against a well-drilled, organised and physical Vauxhall Youth side, with very little between the two teams throughout.

Nomads probably edged things in terms of possession and time on the ball, but struggled at times to break down a strong and organised Vauxhall defence.

In the end, a draw was probably a fair result from a really competitive game between two evenly matched sides.

Not our most free-flowing performance, but plenty of battling qualities on show and another point on the board.
